“Apollo can be a handful with his anxiety and reactivity, and Bri handled it beautifully. They had a rocky first night, because he kept barking at every small noise. After several hours of this, he had her a bit worried about whether or not she could get him to settle down and sleep. But she stuck with it and got him to calm down and pass out. From there the visit went great. She followed our feeding and medication instructions exactly, worked on some training with him during his stay, and did a nice job with redirecting his attention when he got reactive on walks. Communication was excellent throughout. I received regular photos and updates, and she flagged any concerns as they came up rather than letting them sit. The best sign of how the weekend went: at pickup, Apollo planted himself on and between her feet multiple times while we were talking about how the weekend went. He clearly trusts and adores her, which can be difficult given his anxiety. We'll absolutely be booking with her again!”

So we were anxious and nervous about having a completely unknown person coming to care for her when our friend could not. From the minute we met Laura and saw her interaction with our beloved cat, we were blown away by her compassion, empathy, warmth, caring, and huge huge heart. All our apprehensions went by the wayside and by the time we left on vacation we were completely at ease and knew Ghost would have the kind of care every pet owner hopes for, but believes they can only dream of. Laura is that dream! She updated us daily and took fantastic photos which were so fun to see! She went ABOVE AND BEYOND and even brought different toys to play with Ghost and kept her happily engaged. She is truly a cat whisperer! She also is extremely conscientious and left our home cleaner than it was before we left! Laura is a true animal lover and a great communicator. I am self employed and pet care is one of the ways I earn my living. I also work remotely for some of my clients and use the wi-fi to get tasks done. I have been house/pet sitting for decades. I treat your home as if I was a welcome guest, but not a part of the household. Over the years, I’ve had jobs where I was bonded for security, which means I have a clean record. I’ve been entrusted with confidential & proprietary information. I’ve adhered to HIPAA rules without breaking a sweat. I am trustworthy and friendly. I have a silly sense of humor and have skewed streaming algorithms with binging scifi. I’ve lived in the extremes of rural to urban environments. I can greet & thank people in ten languages. My idea of a party is a bowl of ice cream and a movie (sci-fi, British drama). Before we book anything, I’d like to stop by the house and give the critter(s) a chance to get a good look/smell of me and you can give me the lay of the land. Housesitting: I’m being hired to keep the critter(s) company, and that’s what I do. Nana comes to visit and keeping the house safe and the animal(s) safe and happy is my primary duty. My habit is to bring my own supplies, so when you get home, everything is how you left it. I have a ukulele and I sing familiar covers, so I’ll mention it now in case the neighbors mention something about it. (I have yet to have a dog howl as I sang, though the huskies were very talkative.) Drop-In: Depending on our discussion during the Meet & Greet, I will swing by your house according to the schedule we’ve set up. I will make sure the water is fresh and the food bowl has plenty of food. (My job is to make sure the animal(s) know they are being cared for and that they don’t have to stress about whether or not they will starve to death - I’m thinking of cats especially here who see the bottom of the food bowl and start to panic. Not on my watch!) Walk: I’ll be at your house at the time(s) we’ve discussed, put on the collar and leash, and set out on the adventure. My habit is to sing as I walk so that any other critter has a chance to get out of sight - a lesson learned by startling a skunk. It is important that I know if the neighborhood is friendly or if folks keep to themselves. Do(es) the dog(s) visit friends on the trail? or should I keep them on their own?

“Apollo can be a handful with his anxiety and reactivity, and Bri handled it beautifully. They had a rocky first night, because he kept barking at every small noise. After several hours of this, he had her a bit worried about whether or not she could get him to settle down and sleep. But she stuck with it and got him to calm down and pass out. From there the visit went great. She followed our feeding and medication instructions exactly, worked on some training with him during his stay, and did a nice job with redirecting his attention when he got reactive on walks. Communication was excellent throughout. I received regular photos and updates, and she flagged any concerns as they came up rather than letting them sit. The best sign of how the weekend went: at pickup, Apollo planted himself on and between her feet multiple times while we were talking about how the weekend went. He clearly trusts and adores her, which can be difficult given his anxiety. We'll absolutely be booking with her again!”
