“Sarah is a godsend. We had out-of-town guests coming for a visit and our plans were solidified; our usual sitter had an unexpected engagement, leaving us scrambling to find someone to watch our rescue beagle, Sherlock. Our poor pup had a very rough start and has severe separation anxiety, and since we summer in our condo in Highlands, he cannot be left alone, or he will howl incessantly with his unnerving high shriek of terror (poor boy). We searched on Rover for days, and then we found Sarah. She responded quickly to our inquiry. Yay! Now, I’ve been a customer on Rover for years (with our previous beagle), and Sarah had to be the utmost diligent. She requested proof of shots, she provided a detailed questionnaire for us to fill out before meeting Sherlock and we had a lengthy phone conversation about his needs/habits/schedule, etc. Thorough indeed, which I wholeheartedly appreciate because my pet is one of my favorite family members! Once at Sarah’s house, she was kind, loving, provided Sherlock with toys, a safe space to relax, and sent several updates and photos. About: Hi there! Although I only recently reactivated this app, caring for dogs is nothing new to me. I’ve been around dogs my entire life and grew up with herding breeds. I raised my beloved Border Collie, Zoey (see Gallery), from puppyhood through adulthood. She has since crossed the 🌈 bridge, but during her life I taught her fun commands like “take a bow” and “play dead.” My goal is to provide dogs of all ages with a fun, safe, clean, and secure environment that is free from hazards—while giving their owners complete peace of mind. ⸻ Today, I own a longhaired male Dachshund named Moose. He loves other dogs, is up to date on his core vaccines, and is currently unneutered. Because of him, I have firsthand experience with the unique care that long-bodied breeds require, including proper handling techniques and back protection. I’ve also cared for dogs of all sizes and temperaments. I am American Red Cross Certified in Dog First Aid 🐾 and have experience caring for medical dogs who require a little extra attention. My prior Border Collie, Zoey, was dog-reactive and medically disabled (she was completely blind in one eye), so I understand the importance of patience, consistency, and adapting care to a dog’s individual needs. ⸻ I am home throughout the day and will provide plenty of supervision, attention, potty breaks, playtime, and companionship for your pup. The house sits on a fairly quiet street in close proximity to the Belford Ferry, making it especially convenient for NYC commuters. *********** For clients interested in doggy daycare or boarding, dogs will enjoy a securely fenced backyard for supervised potty breaks, interactive play sessions, and an indoor doggy playpen to explore that is located on the main living level of the home (see Gallery). The playpen is stocked with a rotating assortment of toys and enrichment activities for your pup to enjoy, and dogs also have access to the adjacent hardwood-floor living area. *********** To help keep all of our furry friends healthy and safe, proof of core vaccinations is required (except for young puppies), and all dogs must be on a flea and tick preventative. Clients are welcome to bring a crate, favorite bed, blanket, or other comfort items from home. Baby gates are installed on the stairs for added safety, and walks may be added to daycare or boarding services for an additional fee. *********** At this time, I accept one client (which can include multiple dogs) at a time, though multiple same-day clients can work if all parties are in agreement. This allows me to provide individualized attention, maintain a calm, low-stress environment, and tailor my care to each dog’s unique needs. I closely supervise all dog interactions, and my home has multiple gated/partitioned areas that allow dogs to have their own space and be separated when needed. Moose also has a dedicated separate space for meals, naps, etc. At night, your pup will have the playpen all to themselves for a peaceful night’s sleep (or a crate if you prefer). The playpen is also monitored with a baby monitor for an extra layer of safety. ⸻ My goal is to make drop-off as simple and stress-free as possible. About: I am a dog mom of 2 awesome dogs. I had a dog that passed away last year who was paralyzed and had required special care for 7 years until she passed away at 13 years old. My pets are my family and I would treat your fur babies the same way. I also have 2 cats who are equally awesome. About: For the past 5 years, I’ve had a yellow labrador retriever named Hazel who is very energetic and playful. She’s my best friend! I’ve done house drop ins for friends and family for both dogs and cats to check in and take care of them. 💗 I currently work as a part-time before/aftercare teacher at a couple different elementary schools. I work Monday-Friday but have availability from 9:30am-2:30pm and after 6 pm. My weekends are free! I help my family feed our dog and provide her with water. I also take her on walks, to the park or play fetch in our backyard which has a good amount of running space for her. I will meet your pet where they’re at. I’m Canine + Feline CPR & first aid certified, I have previous experience from working in a grooming salon (not a groomer though!) and am serious about continuing education— I’ve pursued additional certifications as well as a dog training apprenticeship and continue to do so. For walks, our walk doesn't officially "START" until your dogs paws hit the pavement! Your dog gets the full 30 minutes with no corners cut. This is true for all of my services. I will care for them like they are my own dogs— their safety is my top priority, and I know how difficult the transition can be for pups when their parents are gone and will do everything in my power to make that easier for them.
