I have always had a passion for working with and caring for animals. Growing up, I was raised around all types of animals. My family would rescue, care for, and rehabilitate sick or injured kittens and puppies. I would help clean wounds, bottle-feed young animals, and care for all the animals that came through our home. We are often home all weekend unless we are taking a hike with our dogs. Our home offers a fenced-in yard for your fur babies to explore during the day and walks can be taken around the neighborhood. Our cats spend most of their time in the enclosed porch so they can be away from your pets if necessary and our two youngest dogs sleep in cages at night. About: While your pets are in my care, they will be treated as if they were my own. I will assist you in training your puppy to master the basic commands: sit, stay, and come. I am retired so your pet care is my first responsibility. During the summer, I will walk in the morning with potty breaks in the afternoon if it's too hot. During winter, if the weather doesn't permit driving, I will contact you and ensure that as soon as I can drive, I will be there to give your pet much-needed potty breaks and playtime. I am a graduate student at NCCU in Durham so I don’t have time for a full time position but Rover allows me to have the flexibility to do pet sitting when possible. Weekends are my most available time and I will also have time in between my clinicals and my classes that I can do walks or drop in visits! I have always been an animal lover, I have grown up in a household that has always had multiple pets at a time. My pets get my full attention and affection at al times when I am home! They bring me so much joy and I would love some more fur babies to love on with all of the responsibility of caring for the 24/7!

Our "puppies" tend to be pretty high energy, and they seemed to fit right in with the family. This was the first trip I've been on where I forgot to worry about the dogs and just enjoy our trip, which never happens. The communication, updates, and photos were consistent and frequent, and I felt like they were in amazing hands the entire time. Both Maci and Oakley came back so happy (and so tired). “This was our first time using Miriam to board our fur baby Pepper for the weekend. We were a little nervous since we had a regular sitter for years until we moved a couple months ago. She helped us have peace of mind by showing us where our dog would be staying as well as asking us questions that would help her to care for Pepper. Miriam was very transparent and also introduced us to her doggie 🐶. Everything went smoothly and she kept us updated throughout the weekend. We were also pleasantly surprised that our dog was not as nervous as we thought she would be and was able to adapt quickly. Definitely recommend Miriam and will be using her services again.”
