“Adolfo was a great choice for my anxious pup! He has experience managing dogs who can be a little rough during play time (which mine is) and keeps a consistent daily routine with lots of outdoor playtime and naps. He was very communicative and sent lots of videos and pics of my baby throughout her stay so I knew she was safe and having fun. The only caveat I would mention is that Adolfo may not be most suitable for dogs with complex medical needs. Mine got a bad ear infection right before my trip; she’s resistant to medication and doesn’t like strangers touching her at all, so Adolfo had a harder time getting her to take her meds multiple times a day. He did a great job in a tough situation and was open about that being a bit outside of his skill level, but it’s definitely something to consider if you have a pup that needs lots of daily meds.”

About: I've spent much of my life living with and caring for dogs--from growing up with dogs throughout childhood, to helping care for dogs as an adult, to having Spencer, my most recent dog. I don't currently have pets of my own, which means visiting dogs get my full attention and don't have to adjust to unfamiliar resident animals. I genuinely miss having a dog around! I work from home and love the idea of giving someone's dog a cozy, low-stress place to stay while their humans are away. I intentionally accept dogs from only one household at a time, so I'm able to get to know their routine, personality, and quirks and make sure they get lots of individual attention. I have a dog door that suits a large dog and a fenced-in backyard in beautiful Southwest Garden, across from The Hill. I'm comfortable following detailed feeding and medication instructions and am happy to care for senior dogs. I'm currently focusing on friendly, reliably housetrained adult small and medium dogs that I can comfortably handle on leash. I prefer a meet-and-greet before a first stay so that both the dog and I can ensure we're comfortable together. And I love sending photos and updates! Getting pictures of Spencer when I traveled always made me happy, so I'm delighted to do the same for you. I work from home Monday through Friday from 9am-6pm, so I’m home much of the day and can easily fit walks, playtime, meals, potty breaks, and plenty of attention into my routine. I live on a quiet, tree-lined street with sidewalks and no through traffic, just ten houses from Sublette Park. I love walking the perimeter of the park, so dogs who enjoy walks will have plenty of opportunities to get out and "sniff the puppy newspaper." I’m happy to take dogs for several walks a day depending on their normal routine and energy level. I do leave the house for errands and activities, so dogs should be comfortable relaxing at home alone for a few hours at a time. I have a quiet, dog-friendly home with no resident pets, and I only host dogs from one household at a time. I have a large, fully fenced privacy backyard for supervised play and potty breaks, plus a dog door that can be closed and locked when needed. Dogs are welcome to relax on my large couch, which is always covered with waterproof pet blankets. At night, dogs can sleep in their own crate in my downstairs den, on the couch, or--if they’re well behaved without a crate--on a dog bed in my bedroom. I don’t provide a crate, so owners should bring one if their dog needs it. I prefer to meet new dogs before their first stay so I can learn their routine and make sure I can handle them comfortably and safely. I’m currently best suited for friendly, reliably housetrained adult dogs who aren’t strong pullers, destructive chewers, or determined escape artists.
“My dog Taku and I relocated here from Michigan recently. We have no family or friends here in Illinois. I was so stressed and anxious on what I will do with Taku while I’m at work or a long day or long weekend. Taku has separation anxiety where if he’s left alone, he will cry and bark the whole entire time. Then I found Jeena on Rover! She was so accommodating! She allowed Taku and I to come meet her and her cats to see if they all got along, before we booked her for a half day of day care. Taku did really well at her place! About: I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life. I only recently, in the past couple of years, started taking care of other people’s pups, and I really enjoy it. I treat all pups as if they were my own. I am retired. I play pickleball quite a bit, but I am never gone more than a few hours at a time. My husband works from home, so there is almost always someone around to accompany your pup. My favorite part of the job is showering pups with love. We have mattresses on the floor and if the pups are willing, we love to snuggle with them. My work also allows employees to bring their dogs to work, if it’s something you’re comfortable with, I would love to show off your doggo! I am available for drop off/pickup anytime on weekends and after 5pm on weekdays. Plus my partner is a graduate student, so he comes home throughout the day to care for his own dog. I have a fenced in yard, so there are no worries when it comes to potty or play. Plus, I live with a very playful dog who can’t wait to spend time with your doggo! I also have a cat who is very tolerant of dogs (she probably won’t play, but doesn’t mind their presence). She is also very comfortable around other cats, she’s a tad shy so another playmate will probably do her some good!

About: I have been taking care of my own animals my whole life, and have sat for other people on numerous occasions. I have also assisted with much of the care and feeding of a dog and several cats over the years. I live in South St. Louis City, and I can only really work there or in areas near there, but if you live close to me you will never be without the help you need. I can stay in your house if you'd like me to, but I can't keep other people's pets in my house because I have a very nervous and shy cat who would be made uncomfortable by this and a crazy dog who might scare your pets. I repeat: I can stay in your house or I can just pop in and out to take care of your pets, but I cannot have outside animals stay in my home. I also walk dogs. The rates for that might be a little bit different, but I assure you they will still be affordable. I have to say though that I cannot walk for an extended period in thunderstorms or freezing/icey temperatures. That's for my safety as well as your dog's. I will be your pet's new best friend and your asset when you are in a pinch or are going somewhere and can't take care of them. I have loved animals since I was a child, and I rarely find one with which I don't get along. I don't have a job which will take me out of town frequently, so I can provide my services as long as they are needed. I look forward to meeting you and your adorable animal friends! I have experience caring for pets who are recovering from operations as well. If your pet does need Constant care, we can negotiate a price that works for you. I've always had pets. I have always had cats, dogs, guinnea pigs, or ferrets. I'm versed in many kinds of animals and am happy to care additional small animals if needed. Short notice is ok as long as there are at least 2 days between the time I'm asked and the time of the stay so that there's time for a meet and greet. For repeat customers, I accept even same-day requests. I work 8 hours, 4 days a week. Since we do petsitting together, if there is a need for constant care, one of us will always be present in the home with your pet. Safety is my #1 priority when caring for your pets. I make sure to watch pets attentively on walks and in the yard to ensure maximum safety. My services include grabbing mail and packages, watering plants, giving medications as instructed, daily walks as instructed, basic cleaning up after myself and your pets, daily updates and pictures, and following your regular schedule as closely as possible to ensure as seamless a change as possible while you get to experience a worry-free time away.

“Julia is awesome! Our dog is very shy and sensitive, and I was so worried to leave her for 2 weeks. But Julia took great care of her and sent us daily picture to comfort the nervous owner. And I saw our dog Mango was getting comfortable and relaxed every day. “Adolfo was a great choice for my anxious pup! He has experience managing dogs who can be a little rough during play time (which mine is) and keeps a consistent daily routine with lots of outdoor playtime and naps. He was very communicative and sent lots of videos and pics of my baby throughout her stay so I knew she was safe and having fun. The only caveat I would mention is that Adolfo may not be most suitable for dogs with complex medical needs. Mine got a bad ear infection right before my trip; she’s resistant to medication and doesn’t like strangers touching her at all, so Adolfo had a harder time getting her to take her meds multiple times a day. He did a great job in a tough situation and was open about that being a bit outside of his skill level, but it’s definitely something to consider if you have a pup that needs lots of daily meds.”
