About: I have personally owned cats for the past 20+ years. I rescued my first cat Amos, as a stray kitten. He was my first pet that I had on my own after moving into my first apartment. About: Although we are new to the area, we are definitely not new to caring for dogs. We recently purchased the well-known dog kennel in Smithsburg and are in the process of restoring it. Parts of the kennel are already fully functional, and we’re excited to begin welcoming dogs while we continue improving the property. It’s a place many people in the community already know, and we feel lucky to be able to carry on its history. Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I grew up with them and honestly can’t remember a time when I didn’t love being around them. That same love has followed me into adulthood. Over the years I’ve naturally become the neighborhood go-to pet sitter. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me with their pets for years, and I always care for them the same way I care for my own dogs — with patience, attention, and lots of affection. One of the things I’m most proud of is the therapy work I did with my dog. I trained and certified her as a therapy dog, and for 10 years we volunteered together in hospitals and nursing homes. That experience actually inspired my career path, and I went on to become a certified occupational therapist. My sweet therapy dog has since passed away after a long and wonderful life. She was incredibly special to me. I’m now starting that journey again with my new puppy, Merango, and hope to continue therapy work in the future. Right now I’m taking some time away from my occupational therapy work to focus on renovating and restarting the kennel. It’s something I’ve always dreamed about doing, and I’m excited to bring new life to a place that so many people in the community already know. We are early risers in our home and typically start the day around 7 AM with potty breaks and breakfast. Mornings are usually spent outside enjoying the property — going on walks around our 20-acre farm or spending time in the fenced runs while I do morning chores. Around lunchtime everyone, animals included, usually settles in for a quiet rest period. I check that everyone has fresh water and food if needed before nap time. In the mid-afternoon we head back outside for more activity. Depending on the dog, this may include running in the fenced fields, exploring the property on a guided walk, or simply relaxing in the fresh air. Dinner is around 6 PM, followed by a calm evening inside. We finish the day with a final potty break and check-in before bedtime around 9 PM. My goal is to give dogs a peaceful farm stay with plenty of space to move, fresh air, and a consistent routine so they feel comfortable and relaxed while they’re away from home I understand how much trust it takes to leave your dog in someone else’s care. When I first started using Rover for my own dogs, I remember feeling nervous too. I always appreciated sitters who kept me updated, so I make a point to do the same. “We took Finn over to Arlene’s for the first time yesterday to spend the day (after our meet and greet a couple of weeks prior). We picked him up from Arlene and she told me that I t took a little time (an hour) to get him to settle down, but after that he had a full day of play with the other 2 dogs that were there. About: I've owned and watched dogs since I was 10 years old. From small puppies, elderly dogs, to dogs huge as a mastiff and small as a chihuahua. Whether they be my own, friends, or families I held dear, being around and caring for dogs have always been a huge part of my life! I've fed them, bathed them, given them medicine, and have always been relable. Currently, I am mostly self-employed & studying for a Real Estate license. I do work mornings at a horse barn, and have a contract gig working occasional weekends with a D&D-styled Bed & Breakfast. Thankfully those shifts are scheduled months in advance and, for barn work, typically wrap up around 11-Noon. :) I'm always willing to give dogs the ample affections and pets they need! I'm super attentive to when they need to go outside/take a walk, have their food right on schedule, have some playtime, or whenever they just geniunely need attention and love. I honestly do it everyday for my own dogs. So I'll have no trouble giving them the same needs I give my precious wee babies.
About: I took care of my shih tzu for 12 years, he recently passed of old age. I had dogs growing up but Oreo was the first that really attached to me. He whined if he couldn't get into the bathroom with me. He slept in my bed with me until he got too old to be that high up without supervision. I gave him embarassing mom haircuts for 10 years because I knew he hated the entire experience of going to the groomers and I wanted to spare him the discomfort. I was always looking for ways to make that dog more comfortable. I have experience in caring for senior dogs, so you can rest assured I will do everything I can for your senior furbabies' comfort. I'm currently working part-time weekdays caring for children but my weekends are open for watching your fur babies!! I usually wake up around 10-11am so I can be available any time after that Friday-Sunday! I always check the water after being gone to make sure there's still enough in there and that it's clean, and feed the cats 3 times a day when possible. Some days just twice usually when I have work. I am happy to follow whatever feeding schedule you have for your fur babies! I also try to brush the cats once a day to cut down on shedding. If you have brushes I am happy to give your pets all the brushin's! We also play with chew toys, cat wands, laser pointers, and socks! Whatever toys you have I'm sure we will have a blast!
About: I’ve always had a deep love for animals, and my experience is mostly centered around dogs. At one point, I had five dogs of my own, but currently, I’m lucky to have two. While dogs are my main focus, I’ve also had the pleasure of caring for cats, horses, birds, reptiles, and smaller mammals like bunnies. (Mount airy, woodbine, Frederick, smithsburg, Hagerstown. etc) I do both overnights in your home and boarding opportunities in our home. During the summer, I am home most days of the week. I am a full time teacher so I am off during the summer. Therefore I am very reliable and flexible with times. About: In my 18 years of caring for my "fur children", 4 of them have been done professionally during summer, winter, and spring breaks of my college life. I have cared for my neighbors dogs, family and friends dogs, and have even booked some Pups from the previous "dogvacay". I absolutely love dogs and other animals and treat them all as family.
