About: I have over 13 years experience doing vet assistant and vet technician tasks and skills as a volunteer at The Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge, IL. I have been employed as part of the membership and philanthropic department at Lincoln Park Zoo from which I learned a great deal, stemming from my biology classes on taxonomy to zoology, to specific animal facts and conservation of threatened animals. I therefore know a great deal of educational background on animal behavior. I studied psychology and comparitive human psychology/animal behavior with a bachelors in science from IIT. I have grown up with dogs, cats, and ferrets. At Southwest Animal Care Center, I bathed, fed, walked, medicated, and cared for boarding and patient animals. I graduated with my veterinary assistant certificate in 2018. After graduating from IIT, I became a kennel attendant and learned a great deal about how to care for animals. Pet care is a daily task for me as I take care for two little fuzzbutt ferrets, Icarus and Agatha. Icarus often wakes me up with his bushy tailed excitement. I'm lucky to have such wonderful critters in my life. Right now, I am only offering dog walking and off-site at client's home services. From what I've read from the anthropologist book "Inside of a Dog" by Alexandra Horowitz, animals, especially dogs, crave human attention so being attentive to an animal's needs is to me, what's most important. This includes communicating with animals to know when they need a bathroom break, when they want play, when they want affection and cuddles, when they want nappy time, being fed according to what their schedule is, and of course, offering healthy treats (if allowed) and new novel smells, toys, etc. I can manage 4-5 walks per day with one or multiple dogs at a time 5-6 days a week. This is my main job and I'm dedicated to providing top care as if they are my own. I take extra care to be a courteous and contentious guest in the owner's home. I treat my stay with respect and humbly care. You can trust me to provide excellent care and keep everything tidy and clean.

About: Animals are freakin awesome and I love them! I've had snails, a bird, frogs, co-owned cats (one at a time), as well as cat sit. I grew up with a dog, and spent 15+years with my beloved baby Shiba Inu Kenji. He had one eye, lots of arthritis, kidney issues, and half his teeth in the end but was full of life! Very familiar with meds and schedules and special needs, natural food etc. Not ready for another and didn't know much about this service. I wish l'd have known, so let me help YOU! (Note- i cannot take dogs over 60lbs, check box options are limited. Thanks for understanding) I work from home so can be available for full days, or as needed. Weekends I may have some things to do but will prioritize where needed. I do not have a crate, but you can provide. Otherwise I have bowls and beds and cones of shame as well as soft flower cone where needed. I also have gates and a pen, and multiple doors. I treat my animals (mine or family friends) like a kid. Safety always, lots of love, and a fun time!

About: We have had dogs in my household growing up since I was an infant. I grew up with dog care responsibilities and chores my entire life. I have a very flexible work from home schedule so I am home all day. I have plenty of time for play time and walks! About: I’ve had a dog in our lives for the past 12 years who passed away a couple months ago. We rescued 3 kittens in 2021. Jack is our oldest cat and he is quite a character. Luz is our middle cat and she is the sweetest little thing to look at/she loves to talk. Baby is our not so little baby and is such a friendly loving cat. I’m currently working 80% remote from home during the week and available on the weekends. Having my cats at home have kept me company and make the day go by faster. My cats have free range of our home and no restrictions. They have their favorite spots to nap during the day which is our bathroom, under my teenagers beds and on my bed while I work. About: I have had my dog now for almost 10 years. I used to care for my dog as well as a roommates dog at one point. I can give medications and can provide First Aid/Heimlich if needed. Strong enough to hold back and tame my 60 pound Boxer mix. I’ve also helped care/walk my sisters Great Dane and my friends smaller dogs for 7 years or so. I love all types of pet personalities! My home has lots of windows for your dog to sit and look outside, a nice neighborhood for walks and a big unfenced yard. “Mercedes did an absolutely phenomenal job caring for my dog, Mugzy, during his first three-week stay with her. Mugzy can be incredibly nervous when separated from me, which made me highly anxious about leaving him with a sitter for the first time. Mercedes completely eased my worries with her warm, welcoming nature and exceptional organization.She gave Mugzy extra special attention, making him feel loved and completely at home. He had a wonderful time socializing with Mercedes and her children. Thanks to this experience, I feel entirely confident leaving him in her care for my upcoming travel.To top it all off, Mercedes baked delicious brownies for me, made special treats for Mugzy, and gave him a bath so he was fresh and clean at pickup.
