I grew up with German shepherds and Rottweilers which helped me to be able to handle big dogs. I use a 125-lb-rated ground lead or a long leash held securely in hand, and I prefer dogs to wear a harness while in my care. On walks, I’m always keeping an eye out for distractions, triggers, and all the critters. I use positive redirection when needed and follow your pet’s routine, cues, and preferences as closely as possible.
