Over the last 10 years, friends, family and neighbors have entrusted me with taking care of their dogs. 2 years ago, I took on the venture of fostering dogs in my home. My experience with them has been with puppies through adult dogs. Special needs dogs are welcome too, as I have experience with dogs with seizure disorder and other chronic issues. During the time the foster dogs are in my care, I work to establish a routine, learn basic commands and household manners. I work from home Monday-Friday. My pets (and fosters) stay in my office with me when I working. I am able to care for your pets during my breaks, lunchtime and after hours. My weekends can be a bit more busy, but I can be flexible in working with your needs. I have a small fenced in yard for the dogs to stretch their legs, enjoy the outdoors, and of course relieve themselves. Indoors, I do have crates available if your dogs needs some alone, quiet time. My dogs have their own room to offer a safe space for them. The dogs are never left unattended to ensure they don't get into something they are not suppose to. About: I have always loved every different kind of animal out there, but spent my childhood with mostly just cats. 15 years ago, I adopted my first puppy, a German Short-haired Pointer, at the age of 8 weeks. My ex-husband and I decided to take the "treatless training" approach which was a huge success! Crate training, leash training, obedience training were all a collaborative effort and turned out extremely well. 10 years later, we adopted a sweet rescue named Gizmo who was already 7 years old, but became part of the family immediately. Tigger’s owner had rescued him from a Chicago Animal Shelter just months before I began caring for him. As a 100 lb. Staffordshire Terrier, Great Dane, Bully, etc. mix, Tigger was a big boy with an even bigger heart. His owner dedicated to helping him become the best version of himself, especially since he wasn’t always comfortable around other dogs. With patience, training, and love, he blossomed into the sweetest, gentlest giant you could imagine. When his owner unexpectedly passed away, her husband reached out to ask if I would consider adopting Tigger. My answer was immediate: absolutely. I couldn’t bear the thought of him returning to a shelter. Bringing Tiggy into our family was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My girls and I were lucky enough to love, spoil, and cherish him for three wonderful years before he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We miss him every day, but are so grateful for the time we had together. Since then, we’ve also welcomed two adorable brother cats into our home. They keep us smiling and full our days with plenty of fun and affection. While our family has grown, we’re excited to have some doggy energy back in the house through Rover! When your pup stays with us, they’ll be welcomed with open arms and treated like a part of the family. About: I have had animals my whole life. This past May, I was lucky enough to retire from 33+ years of teaching. Since 2022, I have volunteered at Tails Animal Shelter walking dogs. Last year, we had to say goodbye to our 16 year old dog, and I miss having animals in the house. While I am not ready to get a new dog, I am very excited to take care of other's dogs like they were my own. Whether it is your pet coming to our house or me going to your home, I cannot wait to keep your furry friend company. Communication is a key issue for me. I worried about my dog all the time. I find a way to alleviate that is to send pictures often. Because I am retired, I would be able to be with pets most of the day. I would let them out every couple of hours - more if needed. I can follow any schedule for feeding. I am really flexible and would be able to accommodate most schedules. I would make sure to keep a close eye on your dog while we were hanging out together. Dogs are definitely allowed on furniture (unless you prefer they not be). I can put a dog in a crate if that is comfortable for them as well. Our yard is not fenced, but it is a large yard in the woods. I can also take dogs for walk around our neighborhood or to the riverwalk in downtown Dixon. We also have a property about 15 miles south of Dixon with 80 acres and a pond, so a trip there could be fun as well.

Animals off all sizes and breeds are special to me and also to God. I know I have a couple less than desirable reviews, but they were total misunderstandings.
