About: I’ve taken care of fur babies of all kinds since before I could walk. I grew up with a dog and cat always in tow. I lived in the country, so learned fast that the world can be hard for an animal, thus beginning my rehab ‘career’. As I got older, I pet sat for neighbors and family friends. In my mid 20s I trained as a vet tech, prepping animals for surgery, giving vaccinations, nail trims, etc. Until the ISU Wildlife Clinic closed, I volunteered there, learning more care for wild native animals. I’m available for repeat needs (several walks a week, drop ins, etc). I live in a duplex with a yard. About: I used to work as a certified dog trainer and managed a daycare / boarding facility for 2 years. I was an employee there for longer. 12 hour days every day with dogs of all types. I know how to administer medications, including insulin. I also know how to handle myself in emergency situations, I've learned dog first aid and I've broken up fights in my time that would've been deadly if I wasn't there. I am currently a general contractor making my schedule very open, my wife loves helping with pets of all kinds as well which allows for more care opportunities. The only thing that wouldn't likely work would be multiple days of house sitting IF I am not able to leave for 3-4 hours at a time. I have a hard time spending an extended amount of time not being able to see my infant son! I'll do whatever someone wants for their pet, assuming it's reasonable. I'm okay on multiple large walks, extended play time outside, anything like that is 100% okay. “Gizmo had a great stay with Brooke and her family. He and one of their cats, Chester, became very good friends, which is wonderful. We know that Gizmo is not aggressive with cats, but he hasn't had much 1:1 time with cats, so we were very pleased that the two enjoyed playing! Brooke made a concerted effort to walk Gizmo on his home schedule to avoid accidents, which I greatly appreciate.”

“Jessica took care of my dog Iommi for a long weekend while I traveled out of state for my brother's wedding. It was my first time leaving Iommi and Jessica was the perfect person to leave her with. I was admittedly anxious about leaving Iommi for the first time, but as soon as I arrived the morning of drop-off Jessica made me feel 100% at ease. She took care of Iommi like she was her own and I know Iommi had a great time staying with Jessica and her family and playing with her dog Rip. About: I have had pets my entire adult life, and I know how important it is to you to find the right person to take care of them while you’re away. I am committed to taking care of your pets like they’re my own, and I’m excited to provide lots of love and fun! I work from home, and my husband is a full time dad, so we’d be happy to spend time with your pets, go for walks as a family, and see to their every need! We have pet gates throughout the home, extra kennels if needed, and a fenced in yard. We are also comfortable giving medication orally or via injection if needed.
