About: I have personally had a pet or 3 since I was 13 years old. I begged for a cat for years and once I got one, I never have been without at least one pet. I have been volunteering with the ARL since 2005. I have had 30+ foster dogs through them as well. I just love animals. I do have weekends blocked but just ask about availability! I am retired. I enjoy going for walks with dogs and depending on the dog spending time outside in my fenced in backyard. I have a 6 foot fence. Your dog will have the ability to be part of our family and our family pets are on our furniture. We do separate our home animals, fosters and house guests at night. The "regulars" get to sleep in our beds while our guests get other accommodations. It makes for better harmony for us. Because we foster on a regular basis our animals are very used to different dogs coming into our home. Our home is pretty quiet and relaxing.

About: I grew up on a farm, caring for pets of all shapes and sizes! I've had many dogs over the years, from young to old and big to small. I am experienced with giving medication, baths, nail trims and love! I am very adaptable to your pets needs. I am currently in college, so I do have classes 4 days a week (Mon- Thurs). I am only away from home 4 hours at the most, and can make stops in to my apartment between classes on longer days. I am able to host pets in my apartment! I live in an upstairs studio apartment and spend much of my time there, when not in school. I have a 360°camera installed to watch your pet if I have to spend any time away. My apartment complex has a spacious lawn that is entirely fenced in. In my clients home, I am extra careful to follow any house rules. In case of overnight caretaking, I am comfortable with any sleeping arrangements (couch etc.). My top priorities are your pup and your preferences!

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life, of all shapes and sizes. I love all animals. I’ve grown up with working dogs, big dogs, feral cats, farm animals, horses, and everything in between. I am always willing to go for midday lunch walks (in the Ankeny/Polk City area) or weekend check ins in the metro, while you are out and about being social. My husband works blue collar, so sometimes I have a lot of time to myself while he’s working, I’d love to fill in with walks at night or weekends in the Highland Park/Saylor TWP/Beaverdale areas, but willing to venture out into the metro. About: My family has had pets my whole life, and I spent a lot of time taking care of them. I’ve always had an ability to connect with animals of all sizes (and attitudes)! One of my strongest suits when meeting a new cat or dog is to evaluate and understand their own specific body language. They can tell us what they need, we just have to listen! I know some pets take a little longer to feel comfortable around a new human, and I always give them the space and patience that they need. I work during the day at a school, so I’m mostly free outside of school hours. I am also off work during school holidays. I do have some evening and weekend activities, but I still have plenty of time to take care of pets. Routines are very important for animals, so I will do what is needed to keep those routines in place and make them feel happy in their own home. As long as I know what the expectations are, we are good to go!

About: Caring for people and pets comes naturally to me. I worked in nursing for several years before leaving to care for my father full time.between that and being a mom giving love and care comes easy. I have 3 dogs of my own, all of which are friendly and love a bit of play time. I am a big believer in fresh air and exercise. Let's get those steps in for your 4 legged family member. And if any of you are owners of little anxious dogs you know this is a big deal!! Missy also did a great job communicating with us and sending tons of photos which we appreciated. Having Bella stay with Missy made us feel at ease, allowing us to enjoy our trip to the fullest knowing Bella was in good hands. About: Dogs and cats are my first priority whenever I'm over at a friend or family member's house. My brother had asthma so we re-homed our dog Sylvie when I was seven years old--I have some very dramatic journal articles from that time! So, whenever I got to be around pets, I gave them as much of my attention as they were interested in. I am now lucky enough to have my own dog (Shannon, the goldendoodle in my profile picture) but can never get enough time with dogs and cats!! Over the summer my schedule is relatively flexible, so if your dog needs a walk or your cat needs to be fed at any time throughout the day, I should be able to make it work! My goal is to maintain your pet's routine as much as possible! I can spend one-on-one time with them, take them out, or just check on them as the situation requires.
