About: Hello, I am a local who lives full time in Tahoe City. I've been a pet owner with both dogs and cats for the last 30+years. I am a mother of two grown children that are now off away at school. I work at the local elementary school with young children of special needs. I am a fun, caring and loving person who loves both animals and humans. I am free to take care of your pet most days, nights and some weekends. I work from home during the summer months so my schedule is always flexible. I currently live in a condo down the street from Lake Tahoe. There are numerous parks at the lake as well as many hiking trails to walk your dog at that are close by my place. I will always walk your dogs on a leash unless otherwise informed by owner to let run free in the woods and trails. I am very safe and responsible.
“Melissa took such great care of Kuma! I loved getting photos and updates, it made feel so secure that Kuma was receiving excellent care. Melissa is a true dog lover and it shines through.”

About: Compassionate and dependable animal caregiver with 5 years of hands on experience caring for four Goldendoodles and one Black Labrador. Skilled in providing daily care, including feeding, exercise, maintaining routines, and ensuring a safe, healthy environment. Experienced in managing multiple dogs at once, recognizing behavioral cues, and meeting each animal’s unique needs with patience and attention. Dedicated to promoting the well-being, comfort, and happiness of every pet while building trust with both animals and their owners. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine because I already enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors. I regularly go on runs, walks, hikes, paddle boarding trips, and swimming, and I would love to have a dog accompany me during those activities. Caring for pets would add structure and purpose to my day while also keeping me active and engaged. I also work full time as a medical assistant at Tahoe Forest Health System Monday through Thursday from 5:45 AM to 4:20 PM, so I really value making the most of my time outside of work. Having pet care responsibilities would be a great way for me to stay busy and active after my shifts or on my days off. Since I don’t have much family or many friends in the area, I genuinely enjoy the companionship of animals and would love to build a bond with your pets. Spending time with them would not only keep them happy and exercised, but also keep me motivated, fulfilled, and connected throughout the week. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize keeping their routine as consistent, comfortable, and stress-free as possible. I make sure they are fed on schedule, get plenty of exercise through walks and playtime, and receive lots of attention, companionship, and supervision while in my care. I also pay close attention to their behavior and needs to ensure they feel safe and well cared for in their own environment. When I lived in Cameron Park, I cared for five dogs of my own and kept them all very active through daily walks, outdoor time, and structured routines. Since moving, I no longer have pets of my own due to limited space and financial stability, but my experience with multiple dogs has given me strong hands-on knowledge of managing different personalities and energy levels at once. This experience has helped me stay confident and attentive when caring for other people’s pets, and I treat every animal like they are my own while they are in my care.
“My dog and I both loved Kathy. I was a little nervous, leaving him because I rarely board him, but I felt so comfortable after leaving him with Kathy. She sent me photos throughout the day each day with updates. My dog had fun and felt comfortable there and I will definitely use her again.”

About: I'm Rachel, a writer with a flexible schedule and a love of all things canine. I live with my husband, and my chocolate Labrador retriever, Ellie, in our West Shore cabin near Homewood. I signed up for Rover because dog sitting helps me get my fix for having a doggy harem. I would love to shower your dog with attention and affection. I volunteer at the local humane society, so I'm very adept at adapting to your dog's needs. I particularly love active dogs, and I'm happy to take your pup on hikes and swims in the lake. I'm also happy to hang out and have a more relaxing day with older, less active pups. Ellie (13) is very well-socialized, and she gets along well with dogs of all sizes. I work from home with a very flexible schedule, so I’m always happy to go out for a walk or a hike. Ellie, my 13-year-old Lab, is always up for meeting a new dog friend. Daycare Rates & Information: Daycare is up to 8 hours of care. Anything longer than that time, please book a boarding stay. Drop-offs anytime after 8 a.m. Pickups before 8 p.m. Although there is a nice buffer of woods near my house, the yard is not fenced (hopefully soon). I’ll be sure to keep your pup on a leash just in case! There’s an enclosed deck for sunbathing and watching chipmunks.

“Julia was great, able to watch our pup overnight after a last minute booking. She was great with our separation anxiety dog, took plenty of walks and potty breaks, and kept us updated through the stay. Will definitely book with Julia again when we have future needs!”
“Faith is an absolute gem of a dog sitter, and I genuinely can’t recommend her enough. I reached out last minute — the kind of request most sitters would turn down without a second thought — and she said yes without hesitation. What really stood out was how thoughtfully she handled Atlas’s anxiety. She didn’t treat it as an inconvenience; she approached it with patience and genuine care, and it made such a difference knowing my pup was in calm, understanding hands rather than just being “watched.” On top of that, she was incredibly flexible with pick-up and drop-off times, and even made a special exception for me when I needed a time outside her normal hours. She didn’t make me feel like a burden for asking — she just made it work. That kind of grace is rare. And the updates! She check-ins with photos and messages that were so reassuring. You could tell she wasn’t just going through the motions — she actually cared how he was doing. If you have a dog with any special needs or anxiety, Faith is your person. She went above and beyond in every way. Thank you Faith! 🐾”

“Could not have been a better experience! Our puppy dog Tito was treated as family during the course of his stay. Andrea was amazing at letting me know he was doing ok and I think Tito has found a new best friend with Henry! Thank you all so very much !!!”

“Susan and her family were incredible! We have never left our boys with anyone who isn't family, but Susan took care of them as if they were. If you are looking for some place for your dogs to get plenty of love and attention while you are away, I absolutely recommend Susan! We have already booked our next stay with her.”

“Aaron was great! He took Ollie for the first time while we were traveling through Reno for a concert. He was kind and had a nice home and nice area for Ollie to hang out and plenty of trails in the area for him to walk! Thanks!”

“They took in a big girl even though they didn't usually do large dogs! We appreciated their willingness to give larger dogs a try! They took great care of her! She came back very sleepy, so we know she was getting around! ????”
“Westin wasn’t available over my dates but his parents stepped in to care for Riggs and it was the perfect fit. Great communication and I could tell Riggs had a great and loving time. Will definitely reach out again.”

“Great pet care for our corgi. April & Rachel were awesome in communication, flexibility, sending pictures and updates. My daughter has also used their pet services and was greatly appreciative of how attentive and caring they were. Definitely 5 star ⭐️ experience and will definitely be using their services again! We were able to enjoy our trip knowing Toby was in great hands! 🐶”

“I've never felt so comfortable leaving my dog's in someone's care than I did with Susan and her family. Absolutely top notch people and excellent communicators. My oldest dog had a nagging injury and needed to have his activity limited and I returned home from my vacation to his improved health. My only fear is that as travel opens up again Susan will be unavailable next time I need her! Thank you again!”

“Ron is seriously the best! We have no worries leaving our little guy with him and Lexi. I am so happy Lexi and Otto hit it off. Ron’s house is a dog palace. Our dog ran from the car to the front door, happy to be back. Ron~ Thank you for your care and opening your home to Otto. He was so happy to visit again.”

“Gina & spouse were so kind & loving to our 14 yr old poodle mix Murphy!! The proof of their excellent care was his constant tail wagging whenever Gina spoke to him on pick up day. Also a big thanks to you Gina for applying his eye meds!! That was extra care & very much appreciated. Hope he gets to stay with you again soon.”

“Nayla was amazing with Taquito! She asked a bunch of questions to make sure she knew how to best handle Taquito (on/off leash, if she liked the water, how to best feed, etc) and Taquito was immediately comfortable around her and her pup which is always a relief. She was communicative, sent us a bunch of pictures and flexible with scheduling pick up and drop off. Taquito had the best time and I highly recommend Nayla!”

About: Hi, I’m Julia! I’m 44 years old and originally from France, and I’d love to be your pet’s new favorite sitter 🐾 I have many years of experience caring for animals, especially dogs. My own dog lived to almost 17 years old, so I’m very familiar with everything from playful pups to senior care, including medications, special diets, and extra patience when needed. I genuinely love being outdoors and going on walks, and I always make sure each pet gets the exercise, attention, and routine they’re used to—whether that’s regular potty breaks, feeding schedules, or just lots of cuddles and companionship. I live right by the national forest, which is perfect for safe, enriching walks in nature. In addition to dogs, I also have experience with cats, fish, and pet rats, so I’m happy to care for a variety of pets. Since I work mostly from home, I’m able to provide plenty of supervision and attention throughout the day—your pet will never feel alone. I also offer in-home visits, where I can care for your pets in their own environment and help with small tasks like watering plants and keeping things in order while you’re away. I treat every pet like family and always aim to make them feel relaxed and loved while you’re away. Feel free to reach out with any questions—I’d love to meet you and your pet! Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine since I work mostly from home and have a flexible schedule. I’m able to plan my day around the pets in my care, making sure they get regular walks, feeding, potty breaks, and plenty of attention throughout the day. I enjoy starting and ending my day with walks, especially since I live right by the national forest, so it’s easy to give dogs fresh air and exercise in a calm, natural environment. I’m also home most of the time, which allows me to provide consistent supervision, companionship, and care. For in-home visits, I’m able to adjust my schedule to match each pet’s routine and needs, whether that’s morning, midday, or evening visits. I always aim to keep pets on their usual schedule so they feel comfortable and stress-free while you’re away. I always care for pets as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved whether they are in my home or their own. In my home, pets get a calm, relaxed environment with lots of attention throughout the day since I work mostly from home. I follow their usual routines as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, potty breaks, and any specific care instructions. Living near the national forest also allows me to provide peaceful, enriching walks in nature for dogs who enjoy being outdoors. In my clients’ homes, I make sure to respect both the pet’s routine and the home itself. I stick closely to your instructions so your pet experiences as little disruption as possible. I’m attentive to details like meals, medications, exercise, and companionship, and I also make sure your home is kept tidy. I’m happy to help with small additional tasks like watering plants, bringing in mail, and keeping things in order while you’re away. My goal is always to make pets feel secure and cared for, and to give owners peace of mind knowing everything is in good hands.

I also have a large vehicle with room for dogs and crates of all sizes.

About: In recent years I’ve found a love for cats. My first cat that I watched was epileptic and I fell in love with him. So no need is too great. Kitties have a special language for us humans and I’m hear to listen to their needs.

I am currently working a hybrid schedule giving me the flexibility and time to take care of pets. I only go into the office three days a week and those times are flexible. This is a service I will not be offering at this time, maybe in the future if I am in a different living situation it will be something I can offer.

“Melissa was wonderful with my puppy Lucas. She sent updates and pictures of him throughout the day and provided excellent care. I will definitely be booking with Melissa in the future, she's terrific!!”

“I cannot recommend Shannon enough! She was incredibly kind, communicative, and accommodating, especially as my dog's health situation changed between booking and his stay. Shannon made the entire experience stress free and gave me complete peace of mind. She is such a warm and genuinely caring person, her location is fantastic, and her dog is an absolute sweetheart. It was clear my pup was in great hands. I am so grateful for her help and look forward to future bookings and playdates for our two doggies. 10 out of 10, highly recommend!”

About: Dogs have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I raised a Beagle (Billy) from puppyhood and proudly attended dog training classes with him (Billy and I both learned alot !) I've also had the joy of rescuing Summer, a gorgeous ex-show dog Golden Retriever, who was by my side for 13 years. After that was Bammer, an Alaskan Husky Lab mix. He was my adventure buddy, and always kept me on my toes! Besides my own dogs, I've had lots of experience caring for my friends' dogs while they are travelling, so have been able to adapt to all kinds of personalities, temperaments and levels of energy. The silver lining is that I currently have no pets of my own, which means your dog will get all the love, attention, belly rubs, walks, playtime, and couch cuddles they can handle. Whether your pup is an energetic explorer, a pro napper, or somewhere in between, they'll be treated like part of the familly. I know how much trust it takes to leave your dog with someone else, and my goal is simple: to make sure they're happy, safe, loved, and maybe just a little spoiled while you're away. 🐾 I work from home and have a flexible schedule, allowing for plenty of attention, potty breaks, and playtime throughout the day. I also love getting outside for neighborhood walks, so your pup will get lots of fresh air, exercise, and cuddles. I have a fully fenced yard for safe play and potty breaks, and dogs are welcome inside the home as part of the family. I'll follow your pet's routine and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed while in my care.
“Kathy was great and was very accommodating to our schedule. Her home is clean and set up well for dogs. Enzo has a great time and was very comfortable with Kathy and her dog. We will use her again when in town.”
About: I have lived in Tahoe for 25 years and always had my own dog and watched over my friend's dogs throughout the years. My best friend (Maggie - Retriever) passed away 18 months ago and I watch many of my friend's dogs frequently, including an elderly short hair retriever that is battling pancreatic cancer. I work from home and board my friend's dogs as well as check in and walk dogs when owners need help. I do have a number of recent references. I have worked from home for 25 years. I am very active and walk frequently. I am an early morning riser and monitor how often dogs need a walk or outside break. Pets are a part of my daily routine. My home: I have beds set up and recognize different doggy routines, ie need to go on the porch for sun, or need to go out for a break and walk. I have a section on my porch and in the laundry area for their food and water and a special area where I organize all the food, medication, leaches, doggy bags. I have a place by my couches with a large basket with balls, toys and stuffed doggy animals. I watch a number of my friend's dogs, and each has a unique and special routine and they have all come to trust me a look forward to visiting. I stay a bit at some of my friend's houses if they want me to help with house watch, plants, delivery receipt and other home needs while they are traveling and away on extended trips.

About: I have hands-on experience caring for dogs of all sizes and temperaments, providing reliable walks, feeding, playtime, and lots of attention to keep them happy, safe, and well-exercised. I’m a stay-at-home Mom. Kids are homeschooled so we are always around. Can take your dog outside and for walks throughout the day. I have a fenced yard and a silly boxer boy dog to keep your dog company. I can crate your dog at night if you prefer.

“Thank you Rachel for the great communication! Both drop off and pick up went super smooth. Our dog, Leila, looked like she had a great time with you! Thank you for sending those sweet pictures of walks and fun play time with your doggie, Ellie. We will definitely request to have Leila stay with you again. :)”

“This was our second time booking with Katie to dog sit George. I feel comfortable leaving her with George. I know he is in good hands. We will definitely be booking with Katie again when we return to Lake Tahoe.”

“Jenna is one of the best sitters I've had on Rover. She took Mole on a ski day and shared videos of Mole having a blast ⛷️! great communication, flexibility, and super nice throughout the day. 100% will leave Mole woth her next time I need a sitter :)”

About: I’ve been a dog owner for many years and have cared for many of my family and friends pets while they have been away for periods of time. I’m take very close attention to the details of how one wants their animals to be cared for. I’m not working any other job right now so I have a very flexible schedule. I enjoy taking dogs on walk for multiple walks a day and I’m happy to add any extra requested detail the routine. There are some great trails near my house that are great for dog walks. I’m happy to attend to your dog with any specialized instructions you may have for taking care of them at your house.
“My pup had so much fun with Lidia. When I picked her up she was calm, happy and content. She had the time of her life playing at the lake and sunning herself on the deck. I'd be thrilled to have her watching my dog again in the future!”

“My husky rescue can be timid and scared in new setting. Nayla and her awesome dog made Freya feel comfortable, playing and hiking and building her confidence. Nayla was prompt, understanding, communicated well and shared lots of pics of their adventures. It was reassuring and awesome to see my dog having a great time. I highly recommend Nayla if you have an active dog and are looking for someone to give them the attention, exercise and love they need while in someone else’s care.”

“Missy and Kyle are amazing! We got a ton of photos throughout the day and our pup clearly had the best day (passed out in our car within 2 minutes from playing all day)!”

“Malea was fantastic! She’s accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable about dogs. She was timely and quickly engaged my dogs so they were happy to follow her anywhere. They were so well cared for that they were totally relaxed after we returned. We’ll definitely call on her again. Ellie J.”

“Scott was absolutely fantastic in handling our two dogs, who are admittedly a little difficult at introductions to other new dogs. Scott introduced his pup Bree in a calm manner and by the end of the stay they were all getting along. He sent pictures and updates during the stay, which was very reassuring. Would recommend Scott to take care of your pups any day.”

“Gissell was so nice and great with my dog Willow. Willow was super happy when I picked her up and I appreciate that Gissell sent me photos throughout the day. Gissell also took some time to meet me and Willow ahead of time to make sure everyone was comfortable which was super helpful. Definitely recommend Gissell and will be reaching out to her again!”

About: I have my own 4 year old black lab who loves attention, long walks, and spending time with other dogs. I’ve hosted many dogs through Rover over the past several years and treat every dog as my own. I prefer to walk or dog sit one additional dog at a time so that they can have individualized attention. I will constantly send photos of your pup while they’re with me and will spend time at any of the nearby parks in the city. I work from home full time so I can host your pup when needed. My dog loves to be with other dogs so it’s great to host during the week for extra socializing. I’m typically available on weekends as long as I’m not heading out of town. My dog loves playing with other dogs and loves trips to the park, but he is also in his old man era and will get lazy after a long walk which brings a good balance of chill time and being active.
About: I have taken dog training classes at the local animal shelter. I offer puppies plenty of time for teething tug-of-war and have tons of patience with the geriatric slow walkers. I work part time, close to home, which offers plenty of time for dog walking, drop ins and over night care. My hours are flexible. I would keep your dog safe on a leash and have a large crate if that would help them feel secure in a different environment.
About: Growing up with dogs my whole life, there has not been a year where we have not had dogs in the house.... meaning we love them! To add to growing up with dogs, I (ambitiously) got a puppy during my senior year of college. This taught me to balance caring for a puppy while excelling in school and enjoying my senior year. This challenge gave me a new insight into putting 100% care into a pet and made my bond grow deeper with my dog, Josie. My family's dog, Molly, is a therapy dog for hospitals and schools allowing me to see the true joy that dogs bring into people's lives. That said, I truly enjoy finding the joy and laughter each dog brings into our home! Working from home, I am truly present to take care of and be attentive to all dogs. There are a few days where I will be unavailable due to travel or subbing at school, but those are blocked off on a weekly basis. Josie and I always start our morning with an activity. Josie loves to go on a morning run, so if your pup is a runner... get ready to join the pack! On the other hand, my family's dog, Molly, loves her walks and play time. We also have a park and great trails in our neighborhood meaning the day is open for adventures. Our condo is in a wonderful area close to the beach with lots of grass and easy access to walking trails. As a home welcome to dogs, we love having them sleep with us but can crate them if that is their safest spot. We have the space to feed dogs separately if needed.

“Julia was absolutely wonderful with our 9 yr old Shar Pei. I contacted her 3 days before I needed someone and she responded immediately. She was professional, trustworthy and I could tell she loved our dog. She even put 2 heavy furniture boxes in our garage for us. We would be happy to have her watch our dog again anytime!”

“Haley was wonderful ! I appreciated her communication from the start! I loved the photos and texts I received daily while Papaya was in her care. She really took the time to listen to my concerns about my older dog, Papaya and she was even willing to take an initial walk with me so I could show her the walk routine of my older dog! Thanks Haley!”

“Adam is very reliable and communicative. He was very patient with my dog even when the dog was shy and unsure of him during my time away and ultimately made him feel comfortable and safe. Would work with him again!”

About: Dogs have been in my life since as long as I can remember. Taking care of animals is something I enjoy and therefore, do diligently. I understand the relationship between pets and their owners and I take care of anything you are worried about during your absence. I currently work from home, so I am available whenever is needed. Your pets are my priority, so I am sure to make my schedule around their comfort. I have a fenced in yard and an endless amount of healthily, safe dogs treat and activities for them. Pets will be constantly in view to prevent any “one off” situations.
“Olivia was so great! She walked my high energy medium sized dog and small little wimpy dog in terrible weather. She was easy to communicate with, arrived on time, and my dogs seemed super happy. Highly recommend for your walking needs!”
About: Hi, My name is Peach and I have an 8 year old border collie. We love spending time on the open trails, the park, or playing at home. We are open to all types of animals, Brewer used to live on a ranch so he is accustomed to many different types. We are always looking for a play buddy. Currently, we live in Tahoe City. I am in nursing school and work at the hospital. Making sure Brewer, or whichever animal I am caring for, has enough care and attention is extremely important to me. I make sure there are several different activities throughout the day for animals to stay happy and engaged. I am able to keep my dog at home, while I am also happy to come watch your pet in your home or take her out for walks/playtime.

About: I have years of experience dog, cat, and house sitting, and especially love working with dogs. Have personal experience owning rescue pets and participated in dog behavior training. I work part time and have a very flexible schedule, so I am happy and willing to work with you and your pets’ specific needs and schedule! I provide outdoor walks, check ins, and caring for your pets in your home. I always ensure your pets’ safety by securing them before exiting the car for walks, making sure they are leashed, checking shade/temperature of the park or trail we may be using, and ensuring all unsafe foods/objects are out of the dog or cats reach when in the home. I also have a large vehicle with room for dogs and crates of all sizes.

Thanks!”

“Our dog Ellie had a great couple of days with Gabriel. She had walks and playing in the snow. Great feedback and updates with pictures while she was there, and she seemed very happy when we collected her. Would be very happy to use Gabriel again for dog sitting.”

“Our experience and our doggie's experience was a great one! Her place is setup for legit dog care and you can feel confident that she knows what she is doing. As an over-protective parent of my golden doodle, she was always in constant contact with me while I was away. We are very grateful to have found such a wonderful place for our pooch to stay. We know he is in good hands and we don't have to stress about it.”

“This was our first foray into using Rover. Megan wonderfully handled our Great Dane, Dakota, who's skittish and energetic. One her first visit, Megan took Dakota out for a walk and on our return visit the next day Dakota eagerly pulled herself to Megan's front door. Communication with Megan was excellent and we would use her again and recommend her to our friends.”

“Theo had an active, delightful day with Danielle. Danielle sent me pictures and text throughout the day to let me know how my boy was doing. Danielle is so kind and really understood the personality of my terrier. Just a wonderful experience all around.”

“I always bring my pup to Kelly and she does a wonderful job every time. He always comes back happy and I know he’s well taken care of. She sends pictures and updates every day of the fun they’re having. I cant say enough good things. Highly recommend!”
