I have a couple of years experience working in a veterinary clinic giving me experience medicating animals, including giving injections. I have a pool for dogs who love to swim! I was a volunteer and puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence back in the mid to late 1980's, and a Puppy Petter for Assistance Dog Institute in the early 2000's. I've also kept busy with boarding in my home for friends and acquaintances. I love dogs!! I have Sundays and Mondays off from my full time job, but I can fit in a nice walk after 4 pm most other days. When I have someone's dog, they get my full attention; we play, exercise, snuggle. I confess, I’m also the lady that will remember your dog’s name, age and origins, but perhaps not always your name. My husband (a social worker) and I are both dog lovers and have a dog (a Frenchie) as well. I work from home (I run a marketing agency I started 12 year ago) and alas much of typical day I'm on zoom, and treasure the breaks for walking and loving on the dogs. While new to Rover, if been helping out friends and neighbors with dog care and logistics and sharing the love for years I'm reliable, work from home, and would love to know how you could use some help. Currently offering to sit or board one dog at a time or arrange prescheduled walks. I'll treat them like family. Comfortable with dogs of many sizes and personalities, and happy to provide updates and photos for peace of mind. Looking forward to meeting your furry friend! Our dog Fiona, a frenchie, plays well with others and has some unique needs including no rough play + daily medicine needs so we're familiar with special rules and medical needs. We do a morning walk, a mid day walk, an "after work" walk and a before bed walk. I work from home so am genrrally around all day. While flexible, I imagine at least initially the primary offering will be to host and care for your dog at our place but am open to house sitting if there's a great fit, I work from home. I can host your dog weekdays and weekends but know on weekends we may have friends (and sometimes friends with dogs) stop by. We have a fenced in deck otherwise for excercise we take leashed walks. About: I’ve always loved cats and dogs I could never pick a side. I had a Chihuahua growing up and currently have a cat called Bonbon. So I know how to take care of both dogs and cats. I understand cats enjoy their space while dogs don’t understand that word. I have rescued many dogs and cats (or maybe they chose me), and I have experience with training, administering medication, young pets, old pets - all of it. What sets me apart from other sitters is that I am likely the most detail-oriented person I know, and this applies to caring for my pets, as well as yours. Currently, I have two rescue Shar-Pei (the wrinkly-faced dogs), and they are the loves of my life. My approach to caring for my dogs is exactly how I would care for your animals. While your fur children are in my care, they are treated with love and respect, and care instructions will be honored to the T (no matter how long or extensive). I think the instructions I leave for our sitter are ~3 pages long, so I won't judge! I have experience with young animals and the elderly, and have administered medications for both dogs and cats. I would describe myself as a very vigilant pet parent, meaning I take pride in my awareness. For example, when walking my dogs, I always put safety first, watch for cars and other animals, and stay aware of my surroundings. I pay attention. I'm the kind of person who often checks the perimeter of my fenced yard, has multiple dog cameras, makes sure there are no ways out, and double-checks the gate locks. I know it might sound like I'm a helicopter parent, and that might just be a fact. Shar Peis are a stubborn (and amazing) breed of dog, but they notoriously require this level of attention, so I am going to credit my sweet dogs for training me to be the ultimate caretaker. Fun fact: I've had Shar Pei for the past 20 years! I'm here to meet your animals where they are when we are together - if they want to hang out, cuddle, play, and be goofy, great! But if they just want to chill on their own, I will respect their space.

About: My name is Nicole. I have been an animal lover since I was old enough to know what animals were. Between catching potato bugs, feeding the spiders in my windowsills, and moving worms off of sidewalks, I’ve always had a particular connection with the animals that most people don’t understand. As soon as I was old enough, I marched off to the Sonoma County Animal Services to volunteer. From there, it was love at first bark. When I turned 18, I immediately went to animal care as my first real job and was lucky enough to work at Rohnert Park Animal Services for several years. I opened my home to many different rescue critters including snakes, tortoises, rats, lizards, and birds. I rescued my first dog and she is still my best friend to this day 10 years later! Over the years, I was blessed to foster many different exotic animals and worked with the Sacramento SPCA through the pandemic. Shortly after, I made a huge cross-country move and ended up in Louisiana working with all kinds of critters at Northshore Humane Society. From there, I ended up back in my hometown of Sonoma County. Throughout all of these changes, the one variable that never changed was my love for animals and passion for making sure they were safe. Through my 8+ years of shelter experience I have worked with the most feral of feral cats, wildlife brought in shoeboxes, all sizes and shapes of dogs, and so much more. I have met and befriended many pets that were reluctant to be befriended and worked with virtually every breed of cat and dog on the planet. I am fear-free certified and have extensive experience with medication management, basic first-aid, canine CPR, and basic training for both dogs and cats. I am experienced with walking large breeds including reactive dogs and can handle heavy pullers (I have TWO huskies!). I have also volunteered with the Bird Rescue Center of Sonoma County and have a special skillset with exotic animals. My two personal rescue dogs are half husky and bully breed which are two of the most misunderstood dog breeds, so there will be no breed discrimination from me. My favorite furry friends are often shy, tricky to befriend, or nervous. Making a scared baby comfortable means the world to me and I love the challenge. As stated above, I also have extensive experience caring for exotic pets including rats, mice, birds, snakes, tortoises, turtles, fish, lizards, invertebrates, and spiders. I am perfectly comfortable with your exotic pet’s diet and am familiar with feeding snakes and other reptiles frozen-thawed rodents. The only animals I won’t consider petsitting for are species that are illegal to own or venomous. About: Walks through Armstrong Redwoods are a favorite activity. I have a large yard and a dog friendly house. I have a couple of years experience working in a veterinary clinic giving me experience medicating animals, including giving injections. I have a pool for dogs who love to swim! I was a volunteer and puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence back in the mid to late 1980's, and a Puppy Petter for Assistance Dog Institute in the early 2000's. I've also kept busy with boarding in my home for friends and acquaintances. I love dogs!! I have Sundays and Mondays off from my full time job, but I can fit in a nice walk after 4 pm most other days. When I have someone's dog, they get my full attention; we play, exercise, snuggle. My focus is providing an enriching experience for your dog .
