“Shanna is great. She has been patient and collaborative in planning for my Roxie's care. We had a meet and greet, then a short daycare stay, then a full day of daycare. She is well versed in dog behavior. My dog, coincidentally a "pitbull type" is often categorized and judged as "vicious or aggressive" even before people meet her. I've had dog sitters on Rover decline to provide services simply because of her breed or her appearance. Shanna understands that Roxie is a dog: a dog with her own level of prey drive (so Roxie is not allowed in her daughter's room cause of the hamster she has); a dog with some anxiety who barked at her husband when he came into the house. They didn't freak out. Shanna understood Roxie's behavior and worked through it, allowing Roxie to get to know her husband, settle and move on. I truly appreciate her family's openness and acceptance. We have two more full days of daycare booked and if all continues well, we will book boarding services. Roxie is people and dog friendly, but the discrimination we have experienced on Rover, leads me to take things in a new daycare/boarding situation slowly. About: I've been around cats and dogs all my life. I'm a trained dog bather, I've also trained Huskys, Beagles, Havanese, and many mixed breeds.I am excellent at playing fetch and keep away. I currently have open availability. I am able to check in with your pets multiple times a day. I also am available for overnight stays. I have a secure patio for my dog. My clients have fenced in yards. There are toys inside and outside at my house and at my clients. There are also multiple water bowls.
About: I was gifted my first dog on Christmas when I was 4 years old and learned to care and love him all his life. I’ll always remember my dog Chocolate as the best Christmas ever that also was the best gift I’ve ever received. He taught me to appreciate and love animals and to care for them accordingly. I cared for a family members pregnant dog and helped her give birth to her 6 puppies and care for them for the diary 3 weeks of there lives. It was truly an experience that I learned a lot from and made me a better care giver. Pet care and having routines are very important as a caregiver. About: I’ve volunteered at the shelters for several years. I participated in their cruising canines program that had me take a shelter pup out weekly for a few hours to burn energy. This includes going for walks, swimming, going to get a puppacino or just cruising in the car and wind surfing! I’ve taken all dog sizes and am physically fit enough to take on larger dogs. I’ve had animals of my own since I was 7 years old. This included ducks, pigs, dogs, cats and geese! I currently have 3 dogs of my own. I love any chance to meet new animals!
