About: I have been dog sitting and working with animals for over 10 years! I have worked in the veterinary field for 5 years and also breed Pomeranians. With the work I’ve done outside and inside my home, I am familiar with many species and how to properly care for pets. I have experience in day and overnight boarding, animal handling skills, giving medications, sanitizing areas, and have a dedication to pet safety. I treat each pet as if it were my own. I’m currently available full time, including weekends and holidays. This includes any time throughout the day. With enough notice, I am pretty flexible with my schedule. When caring for any pet, I always ask that the owner give me a basic routine or schedule. I find it less stressful for the pet if we are able to keep a similar schedule. I also ask that I get details of any food/snacks/treats, allergies, or medications that may need to be administered while in my care.

About: To comfort any animal brings comfort to myself. I have experience with all kinds of pets and love all animals but cats are what you’d find in my home. It’s a common misconception that cats don’t require much attention but as a domesticated animal they thrive on human companionship while also having many natural instincts to accommodate. Some require more attention than others depending on their personality. One of the most important instincts to satisfy is the need to hunt/play. There are some automatic or interactive toys that work well but for the most part the best toy is something on the end of a string attached to a wand/rod and their human’s participation. This way you can mimic the evasive movements of an actual prey for your cat to hunt. This provides exercise and stimulation and I would be happy to play with your cat(s) I’m very good at befriending anxious or less trusting cats and identifying the things that exacerbate their anxiety and finding solutions to comfort them. I also have experience administering medications. With a cat the easiest route of administration is a liquid solution mixed in with some wet food or treat or squirted into the back side of the mouth with an oral syringe. Giving a cat a pill can be more difficult but it can be done. I would wrap them in a towel or blanket, lubricate pill so it doesn’t stick to fingers or tongue, tilt head back and insert pill into back of the mouth, return head to level position and rub their throat and/or slightly blow on the nose to stimulate swallowing reflexes, then give them a treat and love them! When possible I scoop our 3 cats’ boxes after every use. I’m happy to clean and scoop your cat’s box(es) with the same vigilance. A clean litter box is one factor in ensuring a healthy and happy cat!

When caring for any pet, I always ask that the owner give me a basic routine or schedule. I find it less stressful for the pet if we are able to keep a similar schedule. I also ask that I get details of any food/snacks/treats, allergies, or medications that may need to be administered while in my care.

I do also have 2 cats that are dog friendly but have their own room they can be closed off in if needed.
