We can’t recommend Michael highly enough. He’s incredibly attentive, goes above and beyond, and it’s obvious he genuinely cares about our dog’s success. It’s clear he’s thinking about our training even when he’s not with us, and we always feel comfortable reaching out with questions because he’s so responsive and supportive. His approach is calm, thoughtful, and easy to follow, and we’ve seen such great progress because of it. If you’re looking for someone who is truly invested in you and your dog, Michael is the one. He’s helped us with our brand new puppy as well as our reactive adult dog.

We’ve had the absolute pleasure of working with Madeline for the past two months as our puppy trainer for our Cavapoo, Ginger. Simply put, Madeline has been incredible. When we started, Ginger was quite anxious, she was scared of new environments, unfamiliar sounds, and other dogs. We were also pretty unsure of how to help her build confidence. Madeline changed all of that. She not only transformed Ginger’s confidence, but she also gave us the tools and the confidence we needed as pet parents. She’s been warm, supportive, and always there to check in. She’d text us regularly with tips, recommendations, and encouragement, which made a world of difference. Thanks to Madeline, Ginger now feels safe and happy both with us and out in the world. We’ve seen huge improvements in her leash walking, her basic commands, her potty training, and just her overall comfort level. Ginger absolutely adores her, and we do too. We’re excited to keep working with Madeline and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and incredibly effective puppy trainer. Thanks, Madeline, for everything you’ve done for our little family!

Isaac was amazing with our little guy. From the first moment, he demonstrated how to interact with our dog to build trust and our relationship with Arson. They sent a follow up text with notes after our sessions for us to reference later, which was so helpful, and they were just overall so easy to work with. Bring your dogs to Isaac, you won’t regret it!

Athena has been so dedicated to understanding the behaviors and dynamics of our 2 dogs, and we are so grateful she took us on. We are already seeing improvements in our pups (less leash pulling, reactivity, more attentiveness, calm, and focus), and look forward to future sessions with her.

Our dog requires special handling as a reactive dog and a personality that needs a firm and loving handler. Laura helped reinforce the 'heel' training in addition to managing our dog's high energy needs. Laura is also excellent with managing reactivity in our dog to specific objects which is where the training along with the rest of the basic commands needs to be on point. Laura's ability to care for a high energy, reactive dog and provide a structured yet loving home is par excellence. Highly recommend!

Coralie came to our house for a first session with our new rescue dog, Archie. She was responsive, professional, and is clearly very experienced working with dogs. Our boy Archie sat at her feet waiting for attention after she arrived, then sat waiting for direction from her without her doing anything obvious. She seems to know how to use body language and energy/co-regulation to communicate what she needs from dogs. We need to learn how to do this too, so we can best communicate with Archie and keep him and us safe on walks, in public, etc. We will be hiring Coralie to come back next week and will practice the exercises she gave us between now and then. Coralie seems to have a master of her craft and she helps some of the highest needs dogs out there…we’re very happy we found her!

His calm, patient energy puts even the most anxious dogs at ease, and his use of positive reinforcement makes training both effective and enjoyable. Nima takes the time to tailor his approach to each dog’s personality and helps pet parents feel confident and supported throughout the process. His passion for helping dogs and their people build strong, lasting bonds truly sets him apart. Any pup would be lucky to learn from him!

About: During our consultation, we will figure out which positive reinforcement training method will work best for your pup. As we are doing this, I will be outlining a training plan for you & your pup (which you will get a copy of!) After each lesson with your pup, (if available) I ask all pet parents to join me for a quick briefing to see what their pup has learned. As well as showing them what has been working for them & how to continue after our lesson.

AC's talent for working with dogs is rooted in his observational skills giving him an ability to continuously adapt and a knack for critical assessment. AC has risen to the challenge of working with my reactive GSD with a sense of caring that is incredibly refreshing and exactly what my sensitive dog needs! In addition to having a natural talent for understanding dogs, AC's excitement and passion for both dog training and dog cognition makes him an excellent trainer and caregiver. If you want someone who cares about dogs as much as you care about yours, AC is a great fit!

Frequently asked questions about Dog Training on Rover

To list on Rover, trainers must:

Pass a third-party background check

Show proof of education or certification in dog training

Commit to rewards-based training

Rewards-based training encourages dogs to offer desired behaviors by reinforcing the behavior with something the dog likes, including treats, play, or toys. Rewards-based training prioritizes using the least intrusive intervention; it promotes thinking rather than punishing mistakes.

When rewards are used, the likelihood the behavior is repeated increases. The positive connection to the reward results in making learning enjoyable, strengthens the human-animal bond and over time leads to consistent desired behaviors.

Training can happen many places — your home, a park, a store, or anywhere else that you and your trainer decide is best for the training you are doing! Many trainers will recommend training in your home. This allows them to observe your dog in their natural environment so they can effectively assess and best help reach your training goals.

Trainers will often mention on their profile where they typically hold training sessions, but you can always contact a trainer to learn more!

No problem! When you initially contact a trainer, you will be prompted to select a proposed first session date — this is not final, and is confirmed only if both parties decide to move forward. We also recommend contacting multiple trainers to make sure you find a trainer that is the right fit for you and your pet.

Of course! Having a trainer that is the right fit for both you and your pup is an important step to reaching your training goals. We recommend reaching out to any trainer that interests you. Your initial request is not final until both you and the trainer decide you want to move forward with booking.

Also, trainers may offer or require consultations. Make sure to ask trainers so you can make the best decision for you and your pet.

Many trainers on Rover indicate experience in a wide range of behaviors, from puppy training to more advanced behaviors and training types.

Review a trainer's profile to see if their experience aligns with your needs, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to contact them to ensure they're the right trainer for you and your pet.
