Sarah has been a very loving dog sitter for us for many years. She is reliable, personable, and our dog loves her. He literally runs out to her car to greet her when she comes to our home. More recently, Sarah has begun training Boomer, working on the "heel" command with which he has struggled in the past. He has made real progress under her loving care! I highly recommend Sarah as a trainer. She really connects with dogs and gains their trust, making the whole process of training more fruitful with minimal frustration.

Simone came to my house to help me with training my new rescue dog. I felt she had a kind gentle presence and she was very knowledgeable, patient, and calm with my new dog. She knew how to ease the tension my dog was feeling around new people. She showed me how to use certain techniques to walk my dog on the leash so the dog would not pull ahead and how to have the dog sit. My dog liked Simone and followed her instructions. I learned a lot and felt it was a good experience for me and my new dog. Thank you.

Pilar has been an incredible dog trainer for my puppy, Boogie. Initially, I was overwhelmed because my dog was bouncing off the walls with endless energy. When I started working with Pilar, she immediately added structure to Boogie’s life in a way that was easy for us to understand. Through consistent efforts, Boogie is amazing to take on walks and has much better and reliable manners around the house. Pilar gave me peace of mind by answering all of my questions and guiding me through all of my puppies phases as a first time dog owner. I’m always getting compliments on how well behaved my dog is when I take her on walks now. I cannot recommend Pilar enough!

I live in Massachusetts and Cecilia helped me train my labradoodle via video lessons. All we used was a clicker and food ( treat size morsels). I have the most well behaved and happy dog and the envy of the neighborhood. I highly recommend Cecilia for her services.

We had such an amazing experience with Yvonne. She was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and immediately understood exactly what our Boxer, Nala, needed. After just one session, we felt an overwhelming sense of relief and confidence moving forward. Yvonne truly puts in the time, effort, patience, and genuine care—not just for the dog, but for the whole family. We are so excited to continue Nala’s training sessions and couldn’t be more grateful. If you’re looking for a trainer who truly knows what they’re doing and actually cares, Yvonne is your person.

Andrea’s training with my pup Canelo has been invaluable. She helped us dial in leash work, “leave it,” and most importantly, getting him calm and confident in public. The progress has been real and noticeable. She’s patient, clear, and knows what she’s doing. I’m genuinely grateful for her guidance. Highly recommend.

Great experience with Adrianne! Our session was really helpful and I already feel more confident working with my dog. She made everything easy to understand and gave me tools I can actually use. I’m excited to keep working with her and see our doodle at his best. Highly recommend

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Dog Training on Rover

To list on Rover, trainers must:

Pass a third-party background check

Show proof of education or certification in dog training

Commit to rewards-based training

Rewards-based training encourages dogs to offer desired behaviors by reinforcing the behavior with something the dog likes, including treats, play, or toys. Rewards-based training prioritizes using the least intrusive intervention; it promotes thinking rather than punishing mistakes.

When rewards are used, the likelihood the behavior is repeated increases. The positive connection to the reward results in making learning enjoyable, strengthens the human-animal bond and over time leads to consistent desired behaviors.

Training can happen many places — your home, a park, a store, or anywhere else that you and your trainer decide is best for the training you are doing! Many trainers will recommend training in your home. This allows them to observe your dog in their natural environment so they can effectively assess and best help reach your training goals.

Trainers will often mention on their profile where they typically hold training sessions, but you can always contact a trainer to learn more!

No problem! When you initially contact a trainer, you will be prompted to select a proposed first session date — this is not final, and is confirmed only if both parties decide to move forward. We also recommend contacting multiple trainers to make sure you find a trainer that is the right fit for you and your pet.

Of course! Having a trainer that is the right fit for both you and your pup is an important step to reaching your training goals. We recommend reaching out to any trainer that interests you. Your initial request is not final until both you and the trainer decide you want to move forward with booking.

Also, trainers may offer or require consultations. Make sure to ask trainers so you can make the best decision for you and your pet.

Many trainers on Rover indicate experience in a wide range of behaviors, from puppy training to more advanced behaviors and training types.

Review a trainer's profile to see if their experience aligns with your needs, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to contact them to ensure they're the right trainer for you and your pet.
