Tess is an absolute GEM! She is patient, kind, and very intuitive with our two dogs. My husband and I needed help with loose leash training and teaching our dogs to stay in place and not rush to the front door. Tess modeled the "How to" portion, giving step by step directions and then it was out turn to show what we learned. Tess gave us feedback as well. Our dogs have shown a lot of progress during each session. We will absolutely have Tess return to help with our fur babies. Highly Recommended!

I have 2 frenchies. Absolute assholes. But Leah is so good with them and all animals honestly. There is no one else I would trust my dogs with.

Rosa is an excellent trainer. She is passionate about dogs and not afraid to get down on the floor with them. At our very first training session she introduced foundational learning methods which, as she promised, made subsequent learning faster and easier (think of learning the alphabet before learning to read.) She listened carefully to my training priorities and always proceeded with those in mind. She consistently explained to me the how's and why's of what she was doing. She taught me basic principles of canine behavior. She taught me how to continue to train my dog. Rosa is dedicated to positive reinforcement techniques. She never got angry or lost patience with my rescue pup why, like most rescues, has "issues." Rosa always arrived on time. She is personable and very pleasant to work with. Perhaps most importantly, my dog LOVES Rosa.

About: I have experience training many animals including dogs, horses, cats, and goats. I love teaching people and their dogs how to have fun through training, sport, detection, and enrichment! If you are ready to enjoy your dog for who they are instead of constantly feeling like you have to fight them, I'm the trainer for you! I currently handle a conservation detection dog, and together we have experience detecting wildlife disease, bird/bat fatalities, and wolf scat. I have trained dogs in nosework/scentwork, parkour, agility, and treibball foundations, in addition to basic obedience behaviors.

I started with Taylor because I wanted to fill in the holes of our training and to focus on me and not get lost in smells. Well while we stated that all of a sudden my dog who’s under 2 years old became more and more aggressive and that is not her. She told me let’s rule out pain so I did some PEMF on her and that changed her attitude so much. Then we did chiropractic and I have my girl back. Her hip was out and she needed her back adjusted. Now back to training. Taylor was so helpful to work with including answering my late night text. She is kind, patient, caring and we just love her!

I reached out in desperation for my 9.5 week old puppy that had turned into a tornado of teeth and was making all of us want to give him back. Diana rolled in, assessed the situation, listened to everything we had tried, told us it wasn't our fault we were doing great and gave us the training all 3 of us needed. We had a session at 12pm, and i was worried my puppy would resort back to his menace self by bedtime. Nope! Today is the day after, the training we are using is sticking and i have my sweet kind puppy back! Hes listening and using his brain. I enjoy my puppy again! Calling Diana to continue weekly lessons when i return from my trip this weekend! Excited to see how far I can go past behavior modification.

Rebecca has trained our two dogs: a doodle and a poodle who were puppies during the pandemic lockdown and not properly socialized. They are now calm and well behaved and we couldn’t be more pleased. Rebecca really understands animals and is very effective as well as punctual, professional, and wonderful with both animals and their owners.

Rikki is a very good and empathetic dog lover, she is very good with training dogs and getting them to learn, and willing to put in the effort to make sure that they are properly handled! Even older dogs are able to learn with enough time and patience and that is what she's done with Latte, who was adopted from a shelter and severely overweight and did not like humans, now she is a healthy weight and loves being around other dogs and humans!

Ken is a very caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable trainer who continually strives to learn more techniques that might solve unique problems in training. Ken has years of experience coupled with an avid desire to keep learning. He knows each dog and puppy is unique with unique family and environmental challenges. In the end, he wants to help the owner work through the issues with positive reinforcement training methods for better and better outcomes. I look forward to continuing to work with Ken to continue to refine my young GSDs behavior quirks.

Frequently asked questions about Dog Training on Rover

To list on Rover, trainers must:

Pass a third-party background check

Show proof of education or certification in dog training

Commit to rewards-based training

Rewards-based training encourages dogs to offer desired behaviors by reinforcing the behavior with something the dog likes, including treats, play, or toys. Rewards-based training prioritizes using the least intrusive intervention; it promotes thinking rather than punishing mistakes.

When rewards are used, the likelihood the behavior is repeated increases. The positive connection to the reward results in making learning enjoyable, strengthens the human-animal bond and over time leads to consistent desired behaviors.

Training can happen many places — your home, a park, a store, or anywhere else that you and your trainer decide is best for the training you are doing! Many trainers will recommend training in your home. This allows them to observe your dog in their natural environment so they can effectively assess and best help reach your training goals.

Trainers will often mention on their profile where they typically hold training sessions, but you can always contact a trainer to learn more!

No problem! When you initially contact a trainer, you will be prompted to select a proposed first session date — this is not final, and is confirmed only if both parties decide to move forward. We also recommend contacting multiple trainers to make sure you find a trainer that is the right fit for you and your pet.

Of course! Having a trainer that is the right fit for both you and your pup is an important step to reaching your training goals. We recommend reaching out to any trainer that interests you. Your initial request is not final until both you and the trainer decide you want to move forward with booking.

Also, trainers may offer or require consultations. Make sure to ask trainers so you can make the best decision for you and your pet.

Many trainers on Rover indicate experience in a wide range of behaviors, from puppy training to more advanced behaviors and training types.

Review a trainer's profile to see if their experience aligns with your needs, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to contact them to ensure they're the right trainer for you and your pet.
