Laurel is so patient kind and knows her stuff. She wasn’t intimidated with my pit dobe mix. She share so much great information with me and helped me feel much better about my situation. I’m excited for more sessions.

10 out of 10 Anne was very knowledgeable in all aspects of dog training. She helped me to see clearly on some of the things I was doing with my puppy then followed up the next day. I'd absolutely recommend as a trainer and will be using her in the near future.

I cannot say enough kind things about Val. She has one of the calmest demeanors of anyone I have ever met. She showed up prepared with research and a printed plan. She took notes and did great with my anxious puppy. I was very overwhelmed with my puppy’s behavior until Val came over. Now I not only see progress, but I have hope

Storm had another great session with Julian! He worked on leash reactivity at a busy park and blocking out distractions. Storm was doing great by the end of the training!

About: My background is in Communication and Psychology. Throughout my dog training experience, I've seen the foundations of human psychology overlaps to dog behavior and I use that skill in teaching each Team (that's you and your pup!)

About: I am a calm person with a calm demeanor and dogs need understanding on their level. Training to me is about trying to understand how the owner thinks and how to better help communicate with their pets. Since dogs don't fully speak English, they understand things a bit differently. They understand through tone and body language. I hope to make this barrier between language a bit easier for both parties.

I can't say enough about Gabriella! She has worked with our dog on many levels, both training and sitting. Gabi is CCPDT (Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers) certified which is a science based, humane approach to training-which is the only thing we would consider for our "big guy!" The thing we learned from Gabi is that she is training US to love and work with our dog. Gabi is patient, she is watchful and mindful of our interactions with our dog and she explains the reasoning for her approach. Gabi is personable, responsible, on time, and on top of it! Grab her while you can!

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Dog Training on Rover

To list on Rover, trainers must:

Pass a third-party background check

Show proof of education or certification in dog training

Commit to rewards-based training

Rewards-based training encourages dogs to offer desired behaviors by reinforcing the behavior with something the dog likes, including treats, play, or toys. Rewards-based training prioritizes using the least intrusive intervention; it promotes thinking rather than punishing mistakes.

When rewards are used, the likelihood the behavior is repeated increases. The positive connection to the reward results in making learning enjoyable, strengthens the human-animal bond and over time leads to consistent desired behaviors.

Training can happen many places — your home, a park, a store, or anywhere else that you and your trainer decide is best for the training you are doing! Many trainers will recommend training in your home. This allows them to observe your dog in their natural environment so they can effectively assess and best help reach your training goals.

Trainers will often mention on their profile where they typically hold training sessions, but you can always contact a trainer to learn more!

No problem! When you initially contact a trainer, you will be prompted to select a proposed first session date — this is not final, and is confirmed only if both parties decide to move forward. We also recommend contacting multiple trainers to make sure you find a trainer that is the right fit for you and your pet.

Of course! Having a trainer that is the right fit for both you and your pup is an important step to reaching your training goals. We recommend reaching out to any trainer that interests you. Your initial request is not final until both you and the trainer decide you want to move forward with booking.

Also, trainers may offer or require consultations. Make sure to ask trainers so you can make the best decision for you and your pet.

Many trainers on Rover indicate experience in a wide range of behaviors, from puppy training to more advanced behaviors and training types.

Review a trainer's profile to see if their experience aligns with your needs, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to contact them to ensure they're the right trainer for you and your pet.
