Julian was fantastic! My dog had been struggling with leash manners and would get overly excited on walks, grabbing the leash and jumping up to play. Julian solved in 15 minutes what I had been struggling with for weeks. He showed me a simple clear techniques that works immediately. Walking my dog is already so much easier and more enjoyable!! Julian is incredibly knowledgeable and great at explaining what to do so you can keep reinforcing the training at home. I can’t recommend him enough and only wish I had found him sooner!

I was really disappointed with my experience. I paid $93 for a consultation that could have easily been done over the phone. During the session, the trainer didn’t even interact with my dog and basically just asked me questions from a pre-filled questionnaire. At the end, I was given two training plans that felt generic and AI-generated, rather than personalized to my dog. Overall, I felt like I didn’t get the value I expected and would not recommend this service.

About: What sets me apart is my focus on long-term success, not just short-term obedience. That’s why I emphasize positive reinforcement, consistency, and repetition, while also taking the time to teach pet parents how to reinforce behaviors when I’m not there. My goal is to build clear communication, trust, and practical routines that make training sustainable in everyday life, helping dogs become confident, well-behaved companions and giving owners the tools they need to continue that progress long after our sessions end.

About: I am willing to listen to your concerns and focus on what is best for both your lifestyle and your dog's personality. I focus on clear communication, between trainer, owner, and dog. My experience with horse training (natural horsemanship) and vet tech classes give me a better insight on how your dog's mind works. I value real world experience with your dog, this includes training in locations outside of your home to build confidence in known skills.

Leah F is our go to person for anything dog. In all seriousness, she is more than helpful with any unwanted behaviors in an out of the house. She cares so much about any dog she's with that she notices if something seems off. What I mean is she is a kind and gentle dog trainer with the knowledge and experience to know if a dog may need medical attention.

Elizabeth was wonderful and very knowledgeable. She gave me a lot of tips and knowledge to train and help our family dog get used to our toddler. Our dog even ran to the window looking for her when she left. Very grateful and would recommend 100%.

About: My focus is on giving pet owners the ability to train their dogs from the comfort of their own home through virtual training. Although there are benefits to both in-person and at-home training, for certain dogs the training process goes a lot smoother when there aren't as many outside factors in the picture, as well as owners having the ability to get dog training without the stress of having to work around schedules and times to leave the house. I want to bring the same beneficial training to you right from your home!

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Dog Training on Rover

To list on Rover, trainers must:

Pass a third-party background check

Show proof of education or certification in dog training

Commit to rewards-based training

Rewards-based training encourages dogs to offer desired behaviors by reinforcing the behavior with something the dog likes, including treats, play, or toys. Rewards-based training prioritizes using the least intrusive intervention; it promotes thinking rather than punishing mistakes.

When rewards are used, the likelihood the behavior is repeated increases. The positive connection to the reward results in making learning enjoyable, strengthens the human-animal bond and over time leads to consistent desired behaviors.

Training can happen many places — your home, a park, a store, or anywhere else that you and your trainer decide is best for the training you are doing! Many trainers will recommend training in your home. This allows them to observe your dog in their natural environment so they can effectively assess and best help reach your training goals.

Trainers will often mention on their profile where they typically hold training sessions, but you can always contact a trainer to learn more!

No problem! When you initially contact a trainer, you will be prompted to select a proposed first session date — this is not final, and is confirmed only if both parties decide to move forward. We also recommend contacting multiple trainers to make sure you find a trainer that is the right fit for you and your pet.

Of course! Having a trainer that is the right fit for both you and your pup is an important step to reaching your training goals. We recommend reaching out to any trainer that interests you. Your initial request is not final until both you and the trainer decide you want to move forward with booking.

Also, trainers may offer or require consultations. Make sure to ask trainers so you can make the best decision for you and your pet.

Many trainers on Rover indicate experience in a wide range of behaviors, from puppy training to more advanced behaviors and training types.

Review a trainer's profile to see if their experience aligns with your needs, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to contact them to ensure they're the right trainer for you and your pet.
