Building Positive, Lasting Bonds

When choosing a trainer, it’s important to find someone who understands both dog behavior and the real-life challenges of living with dogs. What makes me different? My experience is both professional and personal. As a service dog handler, I’ve trained dogs for medical alerts, mobility assistance, and psychiatric tasks like deep pressure therapy. I also have a reactive dog and understand the stress of reactivity. I work with a variety of breeds and tailor my training to each dog’s needs. My goal is to make life with your dog enjoyable, not stressful, and help you both succeed.

What to expect

Consultation

A typical consultation depends on the training type, but I aim to make it informative and personalized. For behavioral issues, I observe your dog’s behaviors to understand what’s happening and why. I may ask you to take your dog for a walk to see real-life reactions. I also assess how you’re handling the behaviors and learn from any past trainer methods that didn’t work. For service dog training, we start at your home and may visit public places. After, I provide a training plan and ongoing support. Be ready to share background info and any previous training.

Sessions

Typically in your home

Training sessions are engaging, fun, and productive, tailored to your dog’s specific needs—whether obedience, behavior modification, or service dog tasks. I create a positive learning environment for both you and your dog. You'll receive clear instructions, hands-on guidance, and use positive reinforcement. For in-person sessions, I handle your dog 20% of the time, while you practice 80%, ensuring you can apply techniques daily. Consistency is key! You'll have exercises to practice between sessions, and I’m always available for support.

I believe dogs learn best through play, rewards, and positive experiences. My training is tailored to each dog’s unique needs, focusing on building trust and clear communication. I assess your dog's motivators—food, toys, or praise—to create an engaging training experience. I prioritize setting dogs up for success using positive reinforcement, from basic commands to advanced skills. My goal is to strengthen your bond and help your dog become a confident, well-mannered companion, all while making training fun and effective!
