Oosterpark is ~3 minute walk from my place so I typically take them for a walk there. Over: I have had 2 dogs growing up, of which one a Swiss white shepherd. I get along with dogs and wish I could have one myself but since I live alone it’s difficult for me to fully commit at this time - for the time being I would love to sit! I work from home most days, and am therefore free to take walk breaks. Besides my 9-5, I don’t have other big commitments. I live in a spacious enough studio, but I have enough space outside to go for walks. Also a park relatively close if you we feel comfortable going there.
Over: I grew up with pets (dogs and rodents) and have taken care of pets practically my whole life. 5 years ago, I took a wonderful boy called Charlie home from the shelter (you can see him in all of my pictures). He was already a bit older, and I was lucky to have him by my side for 4.5 years until he sadly passed away last October. I have a big heart for animals, and therefore miss taking care of a hairy friend! I have experience with taking care of both small and larger dogs, as well as senior dogs and dogs with medical needs. I recently started a PhD and am therefore not home during work days (mo-fr). This is why I currently am not in the position of adopting a dog myself, but would love to take care of dogs on the weekends when I am home. When taking care of a dog I adjust my routine to meet the needs of the dog. I try to suit the needs of the animal and respect their boundaries. If they prefer to be lazy or alone, I give them space, if they prefer interaction and play, I give them attention. I feed them and walk them as agreed with the owner.

I often pet sit (both cats and dogs) for friends and family, and now I’m excited to extend that care to others in the neighbourhood. I welcome only vaccinated pets into my home, and I am also happy to make visits to yours. Whether it’s cuddles, playtime, or just some quiet company, I’ll make sure they feel relaxed and loved while you’re away. I can administer medication to pets, whether mixed in food or given directly in the mouth, ears, eyes, or via injection. I’m comfortable doing injections after we’ve done it together once, so I can see how your pet responds. I also offer bathing and brushing services. If hosting, your pet will never be left alone for more than 3 hours. I currently work from home and can easily integrate pet care into my daily routine. If that changes and I’m not able to commit, I’ll be transparent and decline the booking. For dog walks, I take a maximum of two dogs per walk, but only after meeting them individually and assessing how they behave around other dogs. Each walk lasts 30 minutes (tho I always tend to do more if we are enjoying and I have the time), though I’m happy to adjust for shorter or longer walks depending on your pet’s needs. When it comes to boarding, I only host one dog at a time in my home to ensure personalized care. They will not be left alone for more than 3 hrs.

Over: Ik heb vanaf jongs af aan altijd dieren om me heen gehad, konijnen, katten, honden, hamsters noem het maar op, ik hield toen al van de aanwezigheid en liefde van de dier. Zelf heb ik een poes van bijna 7 dat echt mijn kindje is en het het liefst zou ik ook een hond willen maar daar vind ik m’n woonruimte klein voor dus vandaar dat ik met liefde voor andere honden (en katten) zorg. Ik heb in de tijd dat ik in LA woonde voor 4 honden gezorgd, het was voor mij altijd weer een feestje om een lange wandeling te maken, zonnetje, palmbomen en honden wat wil je nog meer! :) Helaas is het in Amsterdam niet altijd mooi weer maar ook hier heb ik voor andermans honden gezorgd, oa als dierenbuddy, waar ik voor een oudere dame haar hond wekelijks uitliet. Ik weet dat omgang met dieren gewoon mijn passie is en ik wil daarom uiteindelijk ook mijn eigen hondenuitlaat bedrijf beginnen. Ik ga binnenkort ook starten met een cursus dieren ehbo en ik ben ook veel aan het lezen over honden gedrag. One thing that is very clear to me is that I want my future to involve dogs in some way, whether that becomes dog training, behavioral guidance, or something similar. I am still figuring out exactly how I want to shape that path, but I think it is great that I can already gain valuable hands-on experience by caring for and spending time with different dogs through dog sitting and walking. At the moment, I have a flexible schedule and am mainly available during weekdays from late morning until the end of the afternoon. Unfortunately, Rover does not offer an exact option for this, but in practice I am generally available between 10 AM and 5 PM to look after your dog at home or take your dog out for walks. The type of work I am looking at would be fully home-based, flexible, and low-pressure, without meetings or appointments that would require me to leave the house. The dog’s wellbeing, attention, and routine would always remain my main priority while I am looking after them. Weekends can be a bit more difficult for me, although I may still be available depending on the situation, so you are always welcome to send me a message to check availability I currently live in an apartment complex and do not have a private garden, which means fulltime dog boarding at my home can be a bit more limited depending on the dog and the situation. However, if your dog only needs to stay somewhere for a few hours for example, to bridge part of the day rather than staying an entire day or overnight that is absolutely possible at my place. My apartment is spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a dog for shorter periods of time. I already do this regularly with one of my parents’ dogs to help them out from time to time, so I am experienced in having dogs stay with me in a calm and comfortable environment. Of course, this is always coordinated properly, which means that if I am caring for your dog, there will not unexpectedly be another dog present unless discussed beforehand. I also genuinely enjoy being outdoors and spending active, quality time with dogs. With my own family dogs, I love doing simple things like playing with a tennis ball or a toy, practicing little tricks, going for walks, relaxing outside together, cuddling, and giving them attention. For me, it is really the small moments and connection with a dog that make it enjoyable, and spending time with dogs genuinely gives me a lot of energy and happiness. One important thing to mention is that Rover sometimes requires me to select fixed availability options that do not fully reflect how flexible I actually am. Because of that, it is possible that I may not always appear in certain search results. In reality, my availability is often much more flexible and depends a bit on the specific day and situation. Over: Two Dalmatians, a chihuahua, a Pomeranian and three mutts were my siblings growing up. Over: I have always lived and grown up with dogs, from big to small. My last dog Dexter, was a sheppard lab, who lived a lovely life and travelled all over Canada with me. Since moving to Amsterdam I have helped my friends with raising their new pups/sitting them. I am also an avid walker and usually go two or three times a week on a 7km walk through Diemen, so would love to have a little companion with me next time! My morning route is usually to wake up and read my book for an hour with a cup of coffee, and then go on a walk through Diemen to get a workout in/fresh air. My work days start at noon from Wednesday to Saturday, so on Monday and Tuesday I have plenty of free time. I make it a rule to never leave my house untidy, or with dishes in the sink/food left out/garbage full, as it is a personal pet peeve to come home to a messy house. Cleanliness is very important to me and especially if having a dog in the house I want to make sure they don't have access to anything that can harm them/food that they shouldn't be eating.

Over: Ik ben Niels en ik vindt honden gewoon leuk;) en doe dit als bijbaantje voor de lol. Een beetje wandelen, skateboarden of fietsen met de honden doe ik met plezier en dat probeer ik over te brengen op de honden. Ik heb eerlijk gezegd niet enorm veel ervaring met veel verschillende honden. Ik heb wel een aantal keer op verschillende honden van vrienden opgepast. Dus als je een hond met gedragsproblematiek hebt, dan ben je bij mij waarschijnlijk niet aan het juiste adres. Overnachtingen of een hele dag met uw hond doe ik liever ook pas nadat ik hem een keer heb uitgelaten en als we beide weten dat het tussen ons klikt!:) Daarnaast heb ik geen bench dus die zou je zelf moeten brengen bij een overnachting. Ik hoor graag van je als je me toevertrouwd met je trouwe viervoeter!:) ----- I am Niels and I just like dogs ;) I do this as a side job for fun. I enjoy walking, skateboarding, or cycling with the dogs, and I try to convey that to them. To be honest, I don't have a huge amount of experience with many different dogs. I have looked after various dogs belonging to friends I've looked after a few times, though. If you have a dog with behavioral issues, its probably not a good fit. I also prefer to only do full-day overnight stays with your dog after I've taken him out for a walk once and when we both know we click! :) On top of this i don't have my own bench, so that would be something which you should bring with you in case of a sleepover. I look forward to hearing from you when you entrust me with your faithful four-legged friend! :) Mijn dagelijkse routine is niet heel standaard dus dat hangt af van de dag. Ik zal het verzoek alleen accepteren als het wel past natuurlijk. Veel in het park lopen en leuke dingen doen. Daarnaast kan de hond in mijn appartement ook relaxen in een bench wanneer je die meegeeft.
