“We waren best gespannen om ons hondje Blizzard voor het eerst bij een onbekende achter te laten, maar vanaf het eerste contact met Shaima hadden we meteen een goed gevoel. Ze was ontzettend warm en liefdevol, en haar ervaring met honden straalde er vanaf. Dat stelde ons enorm gerust. Tijdens het verblijf hield Shaima ons dagelijks op de hoogte met lieve berichtjes, updates en leuke foto’s. Ze nam echt de tijd om ons mee te nemen in hoe het met Blizzard ging, wat we als heel prettig hebben ervaren. Ze stelde gerust vragen wanneer dat nodig was, wat haar zorgzaamheid en betrokkenheid alleen maar bevestigde. Wat we ook enorm waardeerden: Shaima merkte dat Blizzard soms wat vaker naar buiten moest omdat hij het niet altijd even goed kon ophouden. Ze heeft zich daar meteen op aangepast en is meerdere keren korte wandelmomentjes met hem gegaan. Zo lief, ze keek echt naar wat hij nodig had. En het allerbelangrijkste: Blizzard had het zó naar zijn zin, dat we bij het ophalen bijna het gevoel kregen dat hij liever nog even bij Shaima bleef. Op de foto’s en video’s zagen we ook hoe blij en ontspannen hij was, en hoe liefdevol zij met hem omging. Wij komen zéker terug bij Shaima. Het was voor ons (en voor Blizzard!) echt een ontzettend fijne en warme ervaring. We raden haar met alle vertrouwen aan!”

Over: Two Dalmatians, a chihuahua, a Pomeranian and three mutts were my siblings growing up. I took care of them through every vet visit, may it be grooming days, sick days, or the few times they’ve given birth to puppies! I currently work part time so I am mostly at home and can do check-ins or walks, this is updated on my Rover calendar. I stay alert on walks and during home-sitting with pets. Care instructions for your little one will be carefully followed and depending on your preference, I can send updates throughout the sitting.

Over: I grew up with pets (dogs and rodents) and have taken care of pets practically my whole life. 5 years ago, I took a wonderful boy called Charlie home from the shelter (you can see him in all of my pictures). He was already a bit older, and I was lucky to have him by my side for 4.5 years until he sadly passed away last October. I have a big heart for animals, and therefore miss taking care of a hairy friend! I have experience with taking care of both small and larger dogs, as well as senior dogs and dogs with medical needs. I recently started a PhD and am therefore not home during work days (mo-fr). This is why I currently am not in the position of adopting a dog myself, but would love to take care of dogs on the weekends when I am home. When taking care of a dog I adjust my routine to meet the needs of the dog. I try to suit the needs of the animal and respect their boundaries. If they prefer to be lazy or alone, I give them space, if they prefer interaction and play, I give them attention. I feed them and walk them as agreed with the owner.

On a weekend the drop off and pick up are flexible. I take notes on the owners preferences and keep the dog’s usual routine to keep them away from stress. Over: 15 jaar lang was een trouwe viervoeter mijn beste vriend. Nu zij er niet meer is mis ik het ontzettend om lekker te knuffelen, te wandelen en te spelen. Natuurlijk is er thuis ook genoeg tijd om te spelen, knuffelen of gewoon lekker te ontspannen. Daarnaast heb ik een fijn tuintje waar honden lekker kunnen relaxen als het mooi weer is. Mensen omschrijven mij als rustig, warm en zorgzaam. Wat je van mij kunt verwachten? Veel liefde en aandacht voor je hond, regelmatige updates en foto’s, en de geruststelling dat je hond in goede handen is. Ik plan vooraf altijd graag even een kennismaking in, zodat we kunnen kijken of er een goede match is. Ik woon op 40 m² met een tuin. Voor hele grote honden is mijn woning daardoor waarschijnlijk minder geschikt. Goed om te weten: omdat ik op de begane grond woon, hoor je soms geluiden uit het trappenhuis. Daarom is mijn woning minder geschikt voor honden die erg waaks zijn of snel aanslaan bij geluiden. Because of our studio setup, our home is best suited for small to medium-sized companion dogs. Therefore, we are unfortunately unable to accept large guardian types, mastiffs, or large bull breeds like Pit Bulls, Staffies, and Rottweilers. There is plenty of green space nearby for walks (Ring Dijk, Weesperzijde) 🌲 There is also parking available next to the apartment. If allowed, we love going on longer walks, including trips to the Amsterdam Forest or past nearby cafés. Of course, we always follow your rules and only take pets to places where they are comfortable. I grew up with dogs and have had four in total, two of which still live with my parents. Clear communication is also very important to me, so owners always know how things are going. This allows me to adapt my approach so that every dog feels safe and understood. During walks, I enjoy visiting natural environments such as parks or green areas where the dog can relax, explore, and comfortably do its business. I focus on calm, structured walks where the dog receives both physical exercise and mental stimulation. I am confident handling dogs on a leash and can maintain good control in different situations. If a dog is allowed off-leash, I know how to apply reliable recall and how to keep the dog safe and engaged. I am also experienced in walking two dogs at the same time, so that is absolutely no problem for me. For a regular walk, you can expect me to walk with the dog for at least 40 minutes. Something else that may be reassuring for owners to know is that I am currently looking into part-time (16-hour) remote work that can be done fully independently. This means I am not tied to an office or stuck in long meetings, which allows me to dedicate a lot of time and attention to the dog and the house. I am definitely not someone who is busy working all day and only quickly takes the dog out in between tasks — caring for the dog is genuinely my main priority. I may occasionally handle some light administrative work during the day, but aside from that, I am mainly present, flexible, and attentive. Because of this, I can keep a close eye on both the dog and the home, and owners can trust that everything will be calm, safe, and well taken care of. What I am currently in between jobs and taking the time to explore what I want to do long-term. One thing that is very clear to me is that I want my future to involve dogs in some way, whether that becomes dog training, behavioral guidance, or something similar. I am still figuring out exactly how I want to shape that path, but I think it is great that I can already gain valuable hands-on experience by caring for and spending time with different dogs through dog sitting and walking. At the moment, I have a flexible schedule and am mainly available during weekdays from late morning until the end of the afternoon. Unfortunately, Rover does not offer an exact option for this, but in practice I am generally available between 10 AM and 5 PM to look after your dog at home or take your dog out for walks. Since I personally love walking as well, owners can expect me to take dogs on long, enjoyable walks with plenty of attention and care. I am also exploring the possibility of starting a part-time remote job later this summer for around 16 hours per week. The type of work I am looking at would be fully home-based, flexible, and low-pressure, without meetings or appointments that would require me to leave the house. Because of that, I would still have more than enough time, attention, and flexibility to properly care for dogs throughout the day. The dog’s wellbeing, attention, and routine would always remain my main priority while I am looking after them. Weekends can be a bit more difficult for me, although I may still be available depending on the situation, so you are always welcome to send me a message to check availability I currently live in an apartment complex and do not have a private garden, which means fulltime dog boarding at my home can be a bit more limited depending on the dog and the situation. However, if your dog only needs to stay somewhere for a few hours for example, to bridge part of the day rather than staying an entire day or overnight that is absolutely possible at my place. My apartment is spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a dog for shorter periods of time. I already do this regularly with one of my parents’ dogs to help them out from time to time, so I am experienced in having dogs stay with me in a calm and comfortable environment. Of course, this is always coordinated properly, which means that if I am caring for your dog, there will not unexpectedly be another dog present unless discussed beforehand. I also genuinely enjoy being outdoors and spending active, quality time with dogs. With my own family dogs, I love doing simple things like playing with a tennis ball or a toy, practicing little tricks, going for walks, relaxing outside together, cuddling, and giving them attention. For me, it is really the small moments and connection with a dog that make it enjoyable, and spending time with dogs genuinely gives me a lot of energy and happiness. One important thing to mention is that Rover sometimes requires me to select fixed availability options that do not fully reflect how flexible I actually am. Because of that, it is possible that I may not always appear in certain search results. In reality, my availability is often much more flexible and depends a bit on the specific day and situation. Over: I work in Marketing & Communications and live in between 2 parks - Oosterpark and Frankendael park. I love walking, so your dog will always be entertained. I had 2 wonderful family members - a big poodle and a Coker spaniel, who lived happy long lives. I usually babysit the dogs of my friends and people I know and I’d like to do it for more owners and their fluffy kids:) I’d like your pet to be dropped off prior to 8am and to be picked up after 6pm on the weekdays. On a weekend the drop off and pick up are flexible. I take notes on the owners preferences and keep the dog’s usual routine to keep them away from stress. Mijn studie begint pas weer op 13 april en ik werk momenteel niet, waardoor ik flexibel beschikbaar ben om tijd met hondjes door te brengen – iets wat ik ook echt heel leuk vind om te doen. Wanneer mijn studie weer begint, ben ik nog steeds goed beschikbaar, omdat het grotendeels thuisstudie is. Ik wandel zelf graag buiten, dus het lijkt me alleen maar leuk om dit samen met een hond te doen. Over: I have an adorable crazy cat that trained me to every possible situation! I also learned how to take care of my boyfriend’s pitbull that, despite being just a big baby, is very strong. So whatever it’s is, crazy cat or energetic dog, I got it! ;) I’m a student at the UvA, so most of my week is free and I can take care of you babies. Let’s talk and organize our schedules! I live by myself in a small studio, so your baby is free to roam wherever they want! Given the small space, I will make sure to frequently bring dogs for walks and provide plenty of playtime for cats!

“Lada is the best dog sitter in Amsterdam! She agreed to watch my dog less than 12 hours in advance, and then agreed to meet me at the train station instead of me dropping off the dog at her place, which shows how kind and thoughtful and helpful she is!!! The weekend that my dog spent at her place was amazing too. I got updates 5+ times per week, with pictures of my dog, my dog was walked for multiple hours a day, she was allowed everywhere in the house; and Lada was veryyyy attentive to her needs and always checked in with me on what she could do extra. She even invited me for tea after the dog stay. I genuinely couldn’t recommend her more, i’d trust her to watch my dog anytime!”
Over: Ik ben Niels en ik vindt honden gewoon leuk;) en doe dit als bijbaantje voor de lol. Een beetje wandelen, skateboarden of fietsen met de honden doe ik met plezier en dat probeer ik over te brengen op de honden. Ik heb eerlijk gezegd niet enorm veel ervaring met veel verschillende honden. Ik heb wel een aantal keer op verschillende honden van vrienden opgepast. Dus als je een hond met gedragsproblematiek hebt, dan ben je bij mij waarschijnlijk niet aan het juiste adres. Overnachtingen of een hele dag met uw hond doe ik liever ook pas nadat ik hem een keer heb uitgelaten en als we beide weten dat het tussen ons klikt!:) Daarnaast heb ik geen bench dus die zou je zelf moeten brengen bij een overnachting. Ik hoor graag van je als je me toevertrouwd met je trouwe viervoeter!:) ----- I am Niels and I just like dogs ;) I do this as a side job for fun. I enjoy walking, skateboarding, or cycling with the dogs, and I try to convey that to them. To be honest, I don't have a huge amount of experience with many different dogs. I have looked after various dogs belonging to friends I've looked after a few times, though. If you have a dog with behavioral issues, its probably not a good fit. I also prefer to only do full-day overnight stays with your dog after I've taken him out for a walk once and when we both know we click! :) On top of this i don't have my own bench, so that would be something which you should bring with you in case of a sleepover. I look forward to hearing from you when you entrust me with your faithful four-legged friend! :) Mijn dagelijkse routine is niet heel standaard dus dat hangt af van de dag. Ik zal het verzoek alleen accepteren als het wel past natuurlijk. Veel in het park lopen en leuke dingen doen. Daarnaast kan de hond in mijn appartement ook relaxen in een bench wanneer je die meegeeft.
Over: In my opinion, looking after dogs it's a great responsibility because who owner of a dog I know that it is very important for the family. About their care, dogs are all different, like people, and each one has their own way of communicating and feeling trustworthy. I like to respect the dog's time to feel comfortable with me to have a friendly relationship and make them feel safe. I have a flexible hours because I work by project, so if we arrange a day before, I can adapt my schedule. Also I don't have any problem to look after them a workable day as well as a weekend. First at all, I would ask the owner if the dog had special treatment for health or behavior. Second, I would ask what type of game it usually plays and I would adapt to its way of playing. Third, what are its times for eating or going for a walk.
