Safety, trust & environment
I set up a meet and greet with the pet and their owner for every drop-in I book. I go over to their house to learn what my responsibilities are and take notes for each individual pet's needs.
Information Zoey J. would like to know about your pet
It is important for me to know how old the dog or cat I am taking care of is, their energy level, and their health needs whether that be medicine or just the amount of food I should feed them.
A typical day
When I drop-in on dogs, which is not very often as most dogs can't be left home alone for very long, I like to play with them in their backyards, take them on walks, and give them lots of pets. When I drop-in on cats, I entertain them with toys and also give them lots of pets.

Pet care experience
I’ve had pets since I was 3 years old. It started with two beta fish, two tabby cats, and then two years later we added a chocolate lab to the mix. Taking care of them was like taking care of family, whether it be walking them, playing with them, or even scooping their poop. I didn't truly begin caring for other people's pets until eight years ago when I started to petsit my friend's geckos, guinea pigs, hamsters and hedgehog. I feel very lucky to have been able to take care of such a wide variety of animals. Unfortunately I cannot care for pets in my own home as I still live with my parents, but whatever safety measures you need followed for your pets in your own home I will absolutely adhere to. I can take care of cats, dogs, reptiles, and other small animals (guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, etc). I am also involved in taking care of non-pet animals. Two summers ago I worked in the ungulates department and the Brookfield Zoo servicing camels, gazelles, antelope and zebras. Last summer I worked at the Anderson Humane Wildlife Center helping care for injured or young native Illinois wildlife.

Reviews

Zoey did a great job looking after our cat. Very communicative. Would recommend!
Zoey took great care of our cat over the Christmas holiday. She was so attentive and caring during each visit and provided a detailed summary of her time. We are so grateful for her flexibility over the holiday season. Highly recommend!

I found Zoey to be an honest, dependable and trustworthy person. She sent me pictures of my pet and updated me each day she came over. She alerted me to a concern she had. I highly recommend her and would definitely request her again.

Zoey is great. She immediately formed a great rapport with our dog and took great care of her while we were away. Each day we received detailed reports with pictures. Zoey was also very responsive to communications. We would definitely use Zoey again!
