Hi! We’re Zarah and Honey!

Hi! 👋 I’m Zarah and this is my best friend Honey, a 7-year-old happy-go-lucky golden retriever.   Since I was a kid, people have always left their dogs with me. Since then, it’s never stopped. It's self-serving really; giving your dog attention, pets, and walks in nature is one of the greatest gifts I could give myself. 🥰 🐾 Dogs of all types, training stages, and ages are welcome; I’ve trained puppies, leash reactive dogs, and senior dogs. My family and friends call my house 'the Dog House' because my home isn't mine. It's theirs. 🐶 🏠 Welcome to the Dog House! I know how difficult it can be to leave your fur baby with someone new. 🥺 I believe strongly in the importance of getting to know you and your dog so I can treat them as close as possible to how you treat them in your own home. 🏠 If you don’t let them on the bed, I won’t either. If you are working on ‘no jumping’, I will work on it while you’re away. With your permission, your dog is allowed on our furniture so we can relax and snuggle to our heart’s content! 🛋️ 💤 ✨ Taking care of your dog is not one-sized-fits all, I am here to deeply listen to you and remain attentive, open, and curious to your dog so I can truly get to know them and adapt to their individual needs. 🐶 🏡 ✨  🤳 Being exceptionally responsive is important to me and I want you to have full peace of mind while you’re away - expect tons of photos, videos, and poop updates while your dog is with me. No one knows your fur baby better than you, so if you see a photo and it looks like they need an ice cube, extra pet, or treato, I am here at the ready! 🧊🍖 If, for any reason, you have a question or have an unexpected change of schedule, I am just a text away. ✨ 🙋‍♀️ A little more about me! I work remotely with a highly flexible schedule, and live with my spouse in a spacious three-bedroom on the first floor (no stairs!) with full access to a newly fenced-in yard. ☀️ There’s a patio for resting in the sun and space to crunch on sticks and chase balls. 🥎 We go on multiple walks a day around the greenway in Jamaica Plain, and tailor the walks based on how much exercise your dog needs. 🐕🌳🌿
I also have a car and can drive to the beach or trails with your permission! 🚗 ✨ 🍯 🐾 All about my best friend Honey: I've raised Honey from the time she was 6mo old. She's a rescue golden with tons of love for humans and the company of other dogs. She is a SUPER excited high energy dog even though she's getting older - she has not slowed down 😂! She can be overly excited for some dogs who need a chill environment. 👉 If your dog needs to be a with a quiet, calm dog with a low-stimulation environment - we're not a fit! She can be an anxious girl during loud noises/rain/thunder but does very well with other anxious dogs, surprisingly so. She seems to co-regulate with other dogs ⛈️ 😌 She does best with dogs that ignore her excitement rather than get riled up because of it. She's amazing at walking right beside you 🦮 and will help your dog to do the same. She is very responsive to training, but sometimes still thinks she can get away with jumping on you for attention (we have to work on this every few months as a reminder that she can't let her excitement over new people get the better of her 😮‍💨). 👉 She's not aggressive toward people or dogs except she will voice 📣 if she doesn't like a dog humping/mounting her. If your dog has these behaviors - we're not a fit! She likes to be around people and the dogs we sit at all times. Honey is obsessed with being outdoors 🌳, so I spend many hours a day outside with her during fall 🍁, spring 💐, and summer ☀️ - this is one of the best things Honey and I can offer your dog. Your dog will be with a constant human and furry friend - sniffing outside, feeling the wind on their face, and rolling in the grass. Honey can be left alone, but she doesn't prefer it. 👯‍♀️ We'll be by your dog's side as long as they're happy to have us there. ✨ ⏰ Please, no last minute bookings to ensure we have plenty of time to discuss you and your dog’s needs and arrange a meet and greet with Honey. I am detail-oriented and like to be highly prepared to welcome your fur baby into my home. ✨ It can be scary not knowing what will happen if your dog needs medical care while you’re away. Your dog’s safety is my #1 priority. I carry first aid items on walks including quik-stop💅, and we live within minutes to the MSPCA animal hospital 🏥 for any rare critical circumstances. You don’t have to worry about access to quick and urgent care while you’re away. ✨ ❗Important Notes: ➡️ I only take one additional dog at a time so your dog can get as much attention as possible. ➡️ I ask that we do a meet and greet before your dog’s first stay so we can make sure it’s a good fit. 🤝 You’ll also meet my partner during the meet and greet so you know exactly who’s around your dog. 🍯 🦮 Honey does well with other dogs and is even more obsessed with people. However, I want to verify that our dogs will be comfortable and happy during your dog's stay. ➡️ We don’t have extra people in and out of the house while your dog is here. ➡️ For safety reasons, I will not let your dog off leash anywhere other than your own enclosed yard, and I don’t take any dogs to a dog run or dog park. ✨ ❌ No dogs that are aggressive indoors with other dogs are allowed, unfortunately! If the meet and greet does not go well, we will not be able to work together. If your dog has leash aggression only, I will be open to working with you. ✅ I have experience training leash-aggressive dogs and will work closely with you to understand and reinforce the commands that you're already using. ✨ 📋 My Process: Keep in mind multiple clients may be interested in your requested dates. I can only hold dates for potential clients once they've been through my whole process - meet & greet with Honey, doing an overnight (if your request is longer than one night), and booking the dates to take them off my calendar. If you are a new client and your dates are urgent, the sooner you go through this process the better!

What can I say? There simply aren’t enough superlatives to thank Zarah & Honey for their care & kindness getting Alfred settled for his first sleepover. Every detail is arranged… what he likes, what he does, what he shouldn’t do! 😂 Honey is the perfect 7 year old companion… especially if your dog is anxious around others… she is trusting, kind and doesn’t mind them getting attention from her Momma. The set up is wonderful with huge country walks around Emerald Necklace in Jamaica Plain and photos and info sent to you always, to keep your mind at ease or just to make you smile. We were so grateful… this will open doors for us for breaks AND visits to the UK. In fact, Alfred is booked in for ten days at the end of October, and for the first time I’ll be able to breath… just knowing he is in great hands. Thank you.

Zarah is very attentive to my dog Wolfie. He’s got some real separation anxiety, and that in turn gives me anxiety when I have to find a new sitter. Zarah wanted to learn about all the little things she could do to make Wolfie feel safe and at home while staying with her. She even set up a Google form to fill out to learn more detail about wolfie’s behavior and preferences before we did our meet and greet, where I quickly felt great about booking with her. Her dog honey is very sweet! Highly recommend.

Wow! I can’t say enough good things about the care Zarah and her partner gave to my pup. The daily updates, the photos and knowing she was getting regular time outside on walking trails and parks was above and beyond. Would recommend her to anyone!

Zarah was very responsive and considerate. I appreciated all of the information she collected during our initial conversations, so she could plan appropriately around our dog’s needs. We’ll definitely use her services again!
