I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and I’m bringing years of professional animal-care experience with me to Northern California. I have worked as a kennel technician for the SPCA in Alaska, at dog washing and boarding facilities, and in an animal hospital. I’ve also worked with large groups of dogs and dogs with a wide range of personalities, temperaments, and comfort levels. One of my favorite parts of working with animals is helping fearful, reactive, or difficult-to-handle dogs become more comfortable and confident around people. If you have a dog who is nervous, fearful, reactive, or has a history of aggression, please feel free to reach out. I have considerable experience working patiently with dogs who may need more time, structure, and understanding than the average pet. I no longer offer long-distance dog walks, but I’m happy to discuss your dog’s normal exercise routine and what I can reasonably provide during a booking. For house sitting, I treat your home with the same respect I would want someone to show mine. As standard practice, I wash any linens or laundry I personally use and make an effort to leave the home clean and orderly. Please note that I cannot provide 24-hour constant care. I have other responsibilities, including part-time work, and I generally leave the home during normal daytime hours for approximately 5–8 hours. The exact schedule varies by day, client, and the needs of the animals, so I’m happy to discuss this during our Meet & Greet. I require a Meet & Greet for all new clients and everyone involved in the animal’s care. I’m happy to meet initially in a neutral public location if preferred, but before accepting a house-sitting booking I will ultimately need to meet you and your pets at the residence where I’ll be caring for them. During the Meet & Greet, I’ll go over your pet’s routine, behavior, feeding, medications if applicable, emergency contacts and plans, household expectations, and anything else I need to know to keep your animals safe and comfortable. For house sitting, I’ll also need your approximate departure and return times so I can plan my schedule appropriately. Every animal is different, and I believe good pet care starts with understanding the individual animal rather than forcing every dog into the same routine.
