Safety, trust & environment
I have a partially fenced in yard and two dogs of my own. Birdie loves to play with other dogs but is reactive at first so she requires a slow introduction. Once she knows a dog, she’ll play as much as her friend will let her! Luna, however, is not exactly a social butterfly. She can coexist peacefully with other dogs but would rather not play with them. My girls are not great playmates for every dog, and that’s okay! Some dogs prefer human friends and others prefer a specific quality in their doggy friends that my girls may not have; no worries! My main goal is always for your dog(s) to have a great time with me. If they prefer a structured or training based walk, we can do that. Some dogs like the freedom of a long leash walk, and we can do that too. Others like to throw a ball, and that works too! Whatever will get your dog the most excited is what we’ll do (within reason, of course). I love to watch dogs be dogs. I’ve worked with several dogs that don’t trust people easily, and I’m dedicated to taking the time to gain their trust. I’ve worked with dogs with a couple of different special needs as well, so just let me know what specific care your dog needs and I’ll be sure to ask if I have any questions. My dog Birdie underwent a hind leg amputation a year ago and in my time at shelters I’ve assisted with surgery recovery with a handful of dogs. I’m known to pay attention to every little detail of the dogs in my care. If there are any changes in your dog’s behavior, I will let you know immediately. I truly come to love every dog like my own, and I can’t wait to meet my new friends!
Information Zachary L. would like to know about your pet
I like to have as much information about the dogs as possible, but I also learn on my feet. I’m not a dog trainer, but I’m more than happy to follow through with any training you’ve been implementing (on your own or with a professional trainer). This includes any training tools such as specific collars, harnesses, or anything else. If possible or necessary, a video or in-person review of what your training protocol would be great so I can see exactly what you need for your dog. If you know what your dog wants to do, let me know! With your permission I can also try a few different things and see what your dog seems to enjoy the most. If your dog has any type of reactivity, please let me know so I can keep everyone safe. Allergies are also super important, please let me know if your dog has any allergies or sensitivities to food or the environment. If your dog has any favorite treats that I can use when we spend time together, please let me know! I also usually have some treats with me if your dog’s stomach isn’t too sensitive to new foods.
A typical day
I’m a big believer in mental enrichment; it doesn’t replace physical exercise but it can make a huge difference in a dog’s overall wellbeing. If a dog loves to play fetch, I’m more than happy to throw a ball for them. But, if the dog is a little too obsessed, I’ll add in a couple of basic commands for the dog between throws. Instead of just running back and forth, the dog now has to use their brain to focus on what I’m asking and do the action before I throw the ball again. Now the dog is using their body and their brain, creating a more fulfilled, tired, and happy dog. I also love enrichment in different forms of treats, whether it’s scatter fed treats (requires a dog to use their nose to find them) or frozen snacks (licking releases endorphins in a dog’s brain to help relieve stress). Enrichment can also help a dog eat slower which helps prevent upset stomachs!

Pet care experience
I’ve worked with dogs professionally across different platforms; daycares, shelters, and a training facility. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and temperaments; I’ve yet to be scared off by a dog! Not every dog loves strangers but I’m dedicated to putting in the effort to gain their trust.
