Love and empathy for furry friends

I adopted my dog, Hatch, in the summer of 2019. He had been found as a stray in the desert along the New Mexico-Arizona border by hikers, and through the humane society he found his way to his Colorado forever family. I had no experience with a dog on my own before, but based my training and discipline of Hatch in love and understanding that he is a dog and not a human. As such, I can guarantee that your pets will be supervised by someone who understands their body language and can interact with them as "one of their own." I cultivate a calm energy which leads dogs to know that I am not only trustworthy, but a friend. I typically try to walk a dog roughly one mile per 30 minutes (or more, if they're energetic), ensuring them adequate stimulation and exercise. A tired dog is a happy dog!

Safety, trust & environment

As a combat veteran, I have a particular experience with and empathy for the stressors our furry family members might face, as well as a mutual affinity for the activities they love. Because of my own sensitivities, I make it a point to not raise my voice at animals, as well as to mitigate the stress that can come from something like a loud, sudden noise. When training my own dog, I use firm, friendly body language and voice as well as plenty of treats (and of course, pets!), and you can expect the same loving treatment toward your animal.

Zachary took excellent care of our two cats, one of whom is a tripod on medication. We got updates with pictures, friendly service, and excellent communication. Our family will definitely reach out to Zachary again for future cat sitting needs!

Zachary did a great job taking care of our 3 dogs, our house and our plants. We are so grateful he stayed here while we were away. The pups got lots of walks, treats and good company. We received regular updates and photos which was much appreciated. Highly recommend Zachary!!

Zachary did an incredible job taking care of my small flock of chickens. I loved the updates and photos, and he was very responsive. Would definitely recommend to a friend needing a pet sitter.

Schedule

Currently, I'm a graduate student at Colorado State University. Outside of class times my schedule is very flexible, and walk breaks with my dog have been a cherished part of my undergraduate and graduate experience. I will happily distract myself from studying for playtime or enrichment. Physical exercise is as important to dogs as it is to us, and I'll often use playtime as an excuse to get some cardio in with the added benefit that the dog gets socialized playtime their way.

The only two things I need to know about a dog ahead of time are its temperament and energy levels. This helps me plan for longer walks for high energy dogs, or will let me know to bring extra treats in case your buddy is food motivated.
