Your visiting dog whisperer!

Hello Charleston! I am currently visiting the area for a housesitting but would absolutely love to meet, hang out, and help with all of your pets while I’m here. I have a particular fondness for dogs but am happy to help with any pet related needs as I really do love them all. I will be here until August 28th. I hope to meet some of your lovely animals soon! Hi, I’m Zachary, I’m 30, and I’ve had pets pretty much my whole life; dogs, cats, rabbits, and fish just to name a few. I currently have two dogs and a cat. Alaska’s the youngest, he’s 3, he’s 51.1% German Shepherd Dog and 48.9% American Pit Bull Terrier, I DNA tested him. He loves cats, but is choosy with dogs at first, the lower energy the more quickly he’ll want to be their best friend. Ariel the cat is a month older than him. She’s pretty much the opposite, she hates other cats but will tolerate dogs. Last but not least Nova, she’s an 8 year old Golden Retriever, she’s technically a family dog though. She’s great with everyone. She is very vocal while playing though and mounts other dogs more than she should. I got my first family pet when I was about 1 year old it was a Siberian Husky puppy we named Kasper. She was an escape artist, one time I think in ‘04 she ran away, someone took her and threw her collar in the creek and five years later we got a phone call from a shelter in Danville, Illinois saying they had our dog because she had a microchip, so we went and picked her up. By that time we had two more dogs that we had got as puppies, we actually picked them up on the same day. A Golden Retriever named Goldy and a German Shepherd named Sassy which, thanks to my nephew, ended up having seven puppies! After all 3 of them were gone we got Nova. In 2021 I got Kodiak he was 1/2 Australian Cattle Dog and the other 1/2 was Siberian Husky, Border Collie, with a couple other breeds sprinkled in. Tragically he passed at just a year and five months old. Don’t tell the others but he’s my favorite. The younger ones are both named after him in a way. At one point we also had nine outdoor cats! I’ve also had two indoor cats that unfortunately were forced outdoor, as well as various other animals. Those are the only six dogs that I’ve had but I’ve been around 200+ others at this point and probably about 150 or so cats. I love all dogs of course but generally prefer higher energy. Australian shepherds (with tails), Siberian Huskies, and Samoyeds are my 3 favorite breeds, in that order. I also very slightly prefer males. As for cats my favorite breed are Bengals. I like to think I’m a pretty good trainer as well, I’m actually currently working on becoming a certified trainer. Nova knows more than 20 tricks/commands, the most impressive being a figure 8 through my legs. Kodiak knew a little less but he knew more advanced tricks, his most impressive was jumping onto my back. Alaska is coming along nicely too, he can hop like a bunny and say hello. So if you’d like me to try to teach your dog something I’ll give it a shot, or cat, I’ve taught a couple cats to sit on command lol. I’m now offering pet photography! Every booking comes with pictures of course but if you want higher quality more professional looking ones feel free to ask about it. I also have a pet photography Instagram, as of now everything on there is also on my Rover profile but if you’d like I can share that link with you as well. All of those pictures were taken with my old phone but I got a great camera for Christmas that I’m figuring out so photography bookings should be even better. Note* bookings that are exclusively for photography are not offered through Rover I’m just using the platform to promote/advertise it. WV can disregard this last paragraph. While I’m at it I might as well add that I have used my parents yard as a Sniffspot (a different app). What that is, for those that don’t know, is you basically rent the yard for a minimum of a half hour as a private dog park. It’s over 5 acres but not fully fenced. If you have anymore questions about that let me know!

Zachary first did several drop-ins with my dog and then later stayed at my home for a week, and I had a great experience with both. My dog is a large dog and can be reactive at times, so finding someone who could confidently handle him while still being patient and kind was one of my biggest concerns. Zachary handled him really well and made me feel comfortable from the beginning. He spent much more time with my dog than expected and it was obvious he genuinely enjoyed being with him. There was lots of outdoor time, play, and attention. He sent detailed updates and multiple pictures every day, which gave me a lot of reassurance while I was away. It was clear he carefully read my care guide and followed instructions consistently. He also administered medication without any issues and was very observant, letting me know about things he noticed so I felt confident he was paying close attention to my dog’s well-being. He also went above and beyond before the week-long stay by helping another caregiver learn my dog’s routine during a last-minute change of plans. I’m very grateful for the care, communication, and peace of mind he provided and would absolutely recommend him.

Lucky loved meeting Zachary. Zachary took excellent care of Lucky. The pictures provided were great and captured Lucky perfectly. The follow up report was thorough and informative. I am sure Lucky will be happy to hang out with Zachary again.

One of our dogs is super anxious and warmed up to Zach very fast. He worked with him at his pace and made sure he was comfortable. By the end he was sitting in Zachs lap and playing outside with him. Our other two dogs loved him as well and wanted snuggles and love throughout his entire stay at our home. Will be using him again any time we go out of town.
