Shelter worker, senior dogs welcome
Dogs have been part of my life for 20 years. I volunteer weekly at a Toronto animal shelter, where I handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments, including big dogs and nervous newcomers who need patience and a slow introduction. I've built an online training program about helping newly adopted dogs settle into a new home, so reading body language and easing a dog through those first stressful days is something I love doing. I watch the early signals closely: appetite, sleep, and how a dog moves through an unfamiliar space. I've cared for a 13-year-old poodle several times a week for years, and I help with airport pickups for rescue dogs arriving from overseas, so senior dogs and dogs still settling in are very welcome here. I grew up with cats as well, and friends still leave theirs with me when they travel. I speak both English and Korean.

Schedule
I work from home, so your dog has company through the day rather than long stretches alone. My calendar here is kept up to date, if a day shows as open, I'm genuinely available. I'd much rather block a day in advance than cancel on you later.

Safety, trust & environment
In my home: dogs stay with me in the main living area rather than being shut away on their own, unless crating is part of their normal routine. I ask about feeding, medication, and walk habits before the stay and keep to your schedule as closely as I can. Quiet condo near an off leash park, elevator building In your home: I follow your instructions exactly, lock up when I leave, and send a photo and short note after every visit. I keep my bookings limited so your dog isn't competing for attention with a houseful of other dogs.
A typical day
Morning: a walk first thing, then breakfast on your dog's usual schedule. Queen's Park, or other off leash parks in my neighborhood. Daytime: your dog settles near me while I work, with short play and sniff breaks through the day. Evening: a longer walk, dinner, and wind-down time. For senior or lower-energy dogs I keep it slower: shorter, more frequent walks and plenty of rest. Photos throughout so you can see how the day is going.

- Before we start, it helps me to know: - Feeding schedule, portions, and anything they can't eat - Medication: timing and how they like to take it - How they are with other dogs and with strangers - Anything that scares them (vacuum, thunder, elevators) - Usual walk length, and whether they pull or react to other dogs - Vet contact, plus anything in their history I should watch for If your dog was recently adopted or has just arrived from overseas, please tell me, I've worked with dogs in that first adjustment window and I'll give them extra time to decompress.
