Our dogs seemed to like her, and nothing catastrophic happened during the stay, but there were several issues that added up and ultimately made us decide not to book with her again. Our main concern involved home and pet safety. On our camera footage, we observed the sitter carrying things out of the house while leaving the front door cracked open. One of our dogs has a tendency to bolt outside, which is specifically mentioned in our instructions. We even saw on camera our other dog peek through the opening while the door was left cracked open. Thankfully, it wasn't the dog that tends to run outside, and nothing happened, but it created an easily preventable situation that could have ended much worse. Additionally, we provide detailed written instructions, label anything that might be unclear, and ask sitters to message us with any questions. Because Dumpling has BVS and tends to eat too quickly, we portion her treats into labeled containers with clear instructions. The containers were stored right next to our other dog's treats. When we returned home, we noticed none of Dumpling's portioned treats had been used. After we asked about it, she told us she couldn't find them and therefore only gave treats to our other dog. What was frustrating is that she never contacted us during the stay to ask where they were. A quick message would have resolved the issue immediately. And upon our return, we discovered dried vomit spot on the carpet that appeared to have been there since we were away. Overall, we appreciated that our dogs were safe and cared for, but we were disappointed by the lack of communication and attention to the instructions we left.
