Pet care experience

Gentle dog caregiver in London.

My family has loved animals ever since I was little. When I was very young, we had three large dogs at home. I learned how to look after them. From an early age, I was in charge of refilling their water and food bowls, and sometimes helped my parents bathe them. We still have three dogs at home now. One is a Teddy that we have raised for nine years. The other two are puppies around three months old. We brought these two puppies over from my grandma’s house, and I even watched them being born. Therefore, I believe I have extensive experience caring for dogs at all life stages.

I think she can do it well cause she is a very good dog carer as I know she had the experience of taking care of the pets since she was 8.

Schedule

I have just graduated from university and only work part-time, so I have plenty of free time most days. This allows me to dedicate lots of time to things I love, such as looking after cats and dogs. I’m more than happy to care for dogs during my free hours: any time before 11 a.m. and after 6 p.m. Spending time with pets will bring me great joy.

Safety, trust & environment

If I take your pet back to my home, I promise to follow these rules strictly: First, I will keep the lights on at all times so the pets won’t feel scared. Besides, all doors and windows will be fully closed to guarantee their safety around the clock. If it is a dog, I will take it out for a walk every three hours to let it burn off extra energy. If it is a cat, I will play with it, and I have plenty of cat toys at home for it to enjoy. If I come over to your house to care for your pet: To start with, I will fully respect your privacy. I will send you photos of your pet, but I will never take random pictures of your house as we agreed. In addition, after spending time accompanying your pet, I will take away all food waste I generate. I will only leave after sending you photos to confirm your pet is safe and sound.

A typical day

If I’m looking after a dog, here’s how I’ll spend our day together. I’ll take it running with me, as I love working out, and there are lots of woodlands nearby with fresh, lovely air. It only takes around ten minutes to walk to a supermarket where I really enjoy their fruit juices. After grabbing some drinks, we’ll head back home. There’s a grassy patch right outside my front door, perfect for playing frisbee — I always keep a dog frisbee at home ready for this. If I’m caring for a cat instead, we’ll stay indoors and play with yarn balls. I’m really into knitting, so I have plenty of yarn balls at home. I’ve even handmade several cat toys out of leftover wool, which are ideal for playing with kitties.

There are a few details I would appreciate you letting me know in advance. For example, what scares your pet? My own dog gets extremely frightened of larger dogs and barks nonstop whenever it sees them. Also, please tell me its favorite and disliked foods, plus any food allergies it may have. I won’t feed it random snacks anyway, but I’d like to know just in case. Besides, does your dog or cat enjoy being petted? How often does it feel comfortable with physical affection? I don’t want to overpet it and make it uncomfortable, nor do I want to give it too little attention. In addition, is your pet prone to getting sick? Does it need extra clothing when the weather suddenly turns cold?
