I have lovingly cared for my own dogs since they were puppies—now aged 11 and 7 years old—so I am well-versed in the nuances of aging pets and their specific care requirements. My expertise extends beyond just dog care, as I have successfully integrated multiple pets, including our cat, into a harmonious household. My background also includes hands-on experience with mobility-impaired dogs, giving me valuable insights into the specialized care these wonderful companions need. I don’t just pet sit; I provide compassionate, understanding care that comes from years of personal pet parenting. My dogs have a fenced-in yard, but they’re usually supervised even there. They’re never off-leash unless it’s a designated off-leash area that I have deemed safe. My cat is entirely indoors. I’m not comfortable walking dogs without their leashes and would always follow the instructions provided by dog owners and keep them informed about their dogs’ well-being. As for cats, I wouldn’t let them out at all and would strictly adhere to the instructions left by cat owners and keep the owners updated on their cats’ well-being.

I have flexible availability on every day of the week. On these days, I can offer morning, afternoon, and/or evening walks or drop-ins. I can more or less dictate my schedule.

Understanding your dog’s triggers allows you to manage these situations appropriately, whether it means avoiding them, using calming techniques, or providing space when needed. Knowing if your dog is reactive can help prevent unwanted situations and make walks or outings more enjoyable and safe. Second, knowing whether your dog is on any medications is essential. Some dogs have health conditions that require daily medication or special care. This could include things like pain management, allergies, anxiety treatments, or other chronic conditions. Having this information ensures that you can follow the correct routine for administering medication, and helps prevent any health issues from being overlooked while you're caring for them. Lastly, it's important to understand whether your dog is scared of strangers. Some dogs are naturally more reserved or fearful around unfamiliar people, which can result in nervousness, barking, or even biting if they feel threatened. Knowing this helps you introduce your dog to new people slowly and calmly, creating a safe and positive experience for both the dog and the person. It also allows you to set boundaries for your dog and inform others of how to approach them in a way that respects their comfort zone.
