My pet care experience includes a variety of animals, including dogs, parrots, chickens, rabbits, turkeys, and, of course, fish. For the past seven years, I’ve also been a sitter on Rover, where I’ve had the opportunity to care for dogs with many different personalities, ages, routines, and needs. What sets me apart as a sitter is that I don’t believe pet care is one-size-fits-all. Every animal has their own personality, habits, comfort levels, and ways of communicating, and I make an effort to pay attention to those details so I can provide the best care possible. My experience working at PetSmart also gave me hands-on experience with dogs of different ages and needs, including young and energetic dogs, senior dogs, bathing and grooming, and pets requiring extra attention or special accommodations. I understand that younger pets often need more patience, supervision, and consistency, while senior dogs may need a slower pace, additional comfort, or special consideration for their individual needs. I’m comfortable adjusting my approach to meet the pet where they are rather than expecting them to fit into my routine. One quality I think is especially important in pet care is patience. Whether a dog is energetic and rowdy, nervous and unsure, or collected and calm, I have the patience and compassion to work with them. My goal is not simply to watch someone’s pet, but to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, happy, and cared for until their owner returns.
