Safety, trust & environment
As I consistently have a foster dog at home, I can only provide care at your home rather than my own. This ensures your dog stays in their familiar, comfortable environment without any uncertainty around how my foster may interact with them. Your dog's safety and comfort always come first. When it comes to building trust, I never rush the process. I am fully prepared to take the slow, necessary steps to help both you and your dog feel confident and comfortable with me. Building a genuine bond with your dog is something I take seriously, as I believe it is the foundation of great care and a successful relationship for everyone involved.
Information Xander M. would like to know about your pet
I’d love to know about their routine, personality, energy level, and any special needs ahead of time. It’s also helpful to know about feeding schedules, medications, triggers/fears, and how they are around other people or animals so I can make them feel as comfortable and safe as possible.
A typical day
I love keeping pets active, happy, and comfortable while they’re with me! Depending on their personality, we’ll go on walks, play fetch or tug, enjoy enrichment games, and of course have lots of cuddle time. Since I foster dogs, I’m used to making pets feel safe, loved, and part of the family.

Pet care experience
I have been caring for dogs for over 7 years, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of settings. Currently studying Animal Science at the University of Alberta, I bring both academic knowledge and real-world experience to every dog I care for. I have volunteered as a dog caregiver with AARCS, where I also fostered dogs in need of a temporary home, and I currently foster with GEARS, providing dogs with a safe, loving environment while they await their forever families. Beyond dog care, I also volunteer with the FARRM animal rescue near Wetaskiwin, reflecting my broader passion for animal welfare. Through my fostering experience, I have worked extensively on obedience and general dog training, and I am always happy to work with owners on their dog's training goals as well.
Reviews

Our dog absolutely loved Xander, you can tell he loves animals. He was quick to walk our reactive pup and happy to consider our training techniques. Will continue to use him for walks.
I have know Xander since grade 5 and in that time he has shown nothing but the utmost care and love to every animal he meets. I currently have 5 pets (2 cats and 3 dogs) and every time he meets them my dogs and cats adore him. I have seen him teach tricks to animals in a fraction of the time I thought possible as well as help there behaviors. I can not recommend Xander enough if you want someone trust worthy, kind, thoughtful and incredible with animals consider Xander for a job.
Xander has always been passionate about animals. He is a caring, responsible pet caregiver who began fostering dogs as soon as he could. He treats every animal like family. Xander pays attention to each pet's unique needs and provides personalized care. He creates a nurturing environment through playtime, walks, and a comforting presence. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a loving caregiver for their pets—his dedication truly makes a difference.
Highly skilled with all ages and temperaments: If you are looking for a sitter/dog walker who actually understands animal behavior, look no further than Xander. He has a natural gift for bonding with difficult dogs and is incredibly diligent with instructions. He has cared for my pets through every stage of life—from my senior 16-year-old cat to my high-energy kittens and my challenging dog. His experience fostering for rescues shows in his patience and 'animal-first' mindset. He is reliable, compassionate, and highly respected by the community. Your pets will be in the best possible hands.
