I've shared my home with two to four dogs since coming to LA 15 years ago. Because I work from home, your pup gets a calm, dog-savvy human nearby all day — frequent yard breaks, play, and belly rubs instead of hours alone. I'm comfortable with puppies, seniors, medications, and high-energy dogs. I feel time together and attention is what bonds both humans and dogs, and seeing them go from anxious and confused to a happy member of "the pack" is one of the more rewarding parts of taking care of them, so I prefer stays long or frequent enough for your pup to feel at home with me and in my home, but I'm also always willing to cover a tight spot or step in for a day of daycare.

Bill took great care of Winnie while we were out of town for the weekend! He is an attentive and caring sitter. When we picked Winnie up she was happy and well cared for.
Bill and his family took amazing care of my dog. My dog has a lot of energy but I can tell they spent a lot of time with him and he enjoyed his time playing in their yard. I would definitely recommend and request for him to watch my dog again.

Schedule
I work from home on a flexible schedule, so your dog has company and supervision for the entire day — regular walks, play, and potty breaks, not long stretches alone. I offer boarding and daycare and take only up to three dogs at a time, and mostly for medium to long term boarding, so it's a calm environment without a ton of new dogs coming and going. I'm glad to keep your dog's normal routine for meals, walks, naps, and bedtime. I always mark as unavailable any days I have travel or major time commitments that will keep me away from home for more than an hour or two, so they will have constant care while they're here.

Safety, trust & environment
Your dog will have free range of my 3 bedroom home, detached studio, and very large, securely fenced backyard full of fruit trees. I don't have pets of my own right now, so your pup gets the whole space and my full attention. I'm happy to crate or set up a quiet separate area if that's what your dog is used to, and I keep things calm and low-stress. My space is easily partitioned to allow dogs to eat, nap, or hang out alone in peace if that's what they prefer. I have a doggy door for dogs who like to let themselves in/out at their leisure. (it's about 50/50 whether they figure it out and make use of it lol) I converted our detached 2 car garage into a recording studio, where I work, so we have the quietest place in town in the event we have to make it through fireworks or if your pet prefers quiet or isolation. Both the house and studio have their own separate HVAC systems, so they'll definitely stay comfortable. I don't generally use kennels or crates, but if your dog prefers or is used to using one, by all means bring it along. I have always slept with my own dogs, so happy to co-sleep with yours if that's what they're used to, but also glad to maintain whatever rules you generally set for them in regard to being on beds/furniture. I have found even "reactive" and "solitary" dogs very quickly acclimate to a more social environment (it usually only takes 3-4 hours) and I never leave them together unsupervised until they're demonstrating clear friendliness to each other. Many dog parents bring their pups over just for this kind of socialization, and it's great to watch a dog that "hates all other dogs" running and playing in the yard with the group after snarling at everyone just a few hours before.
A typical day
My alarm is set for 7AM every day, so we're always up by then at the latest. Everyone gets potty time and breakfast right away. At 9AM my robo-mop starts cleaning the house, so we usually decamp to the backyard, studio, or for a walk while she works (some dogs don't care at all, but some lose their minds barking at the robot). By noon it's generally pretty warm here in Pasadena, so we're usually back inside until about 4PM (We still go outside for potty breaks, but make sure to keep it short if it's above 80F) We have dinner in the evening. A walk after to help digest, and always a potty break right before bed to stave off any overnight accidents.

- I'd love to know your pet's routine, needs, and the rules you usually enforce with them. Whether they have any medications, allergies, food restrictions, etc. Whether they get along with kids (My 6 year old son lives here half the time too, but he gets a new dog every 2-3 days so he's a pro at not bothering ones who don't want to interact with him) and whether they get along with other dogs (in the event we have another dog staying on the same day) I also would love to encourage they be up to date on their flea medication because while I do treat my yard and home to prevent them, pups will be running around a large outdoor space in Southern California, so best to be proactive!
