Qualified Animal Behaviourist

I am a qualified Animal Behaviourist with over 30 years of experience working with animals, including dogs, horses and a wide range of companion animals. My academic background includes postgraduate qualifications in Animal Welfare and Equine Behaviour, alongside many years of practical experience supporting animals and their owners. I offer a calm, caring and structured home-from-home environment where your dog will be treated as one of the family. I understand that every dog is an individual, and I take the time to learn about their routines, preferences and personality to help them feel safe, settled and happy during their stay. My experience in animal behaviour means I am particularly confident working with nervous, sensitive, rescue and older dogs who may need a little extra understanding and patience. I focus on positive interactions, consistency and welfare-centred care to ensure your dog has a relaxed and enjoyable experience. I am also able to look after puppies so I can continue their training while you are away. I know how important it is to trust someone with your dog, so I provide regular updates, photographs and communication throughout your dog's stay, giving you complete peace of mind while you are away. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, quiet companionship or plenty of playtime, I will tailor their care to meet their individual needs. I look forward to meeting you and your dog and providing a safe, loving and professional environment while you're away.

Wendy has looked after my Golden Doodle several times and Daisy has always been happy to go back. She greets Wendy like her other mother! Wendy gives me updates with photos so I know how she is doing and what they have been up to during the day. Wendy has a lovely garden for dogs to explore and play in and is very secure. I find that Wendy communicates well and always responds quickly to my messages. Wendy has a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding animals which makes me feel confident that she would be able to deal with any situation whether my dog was ill or had an accident. I highly recommend Wendy to look after your dog. 😊

I am delighted to recommend Wendy as a dog sitter and caregiver. Wendy has over 20 years of experience as a dog behaviourist and has worked with dogs of all ages, from young puppies through to senior dogs. Her knowledge of canine behaviour, combined with her calm and compassionate nature, makes her exceptionally well suited to caring for dogs. Wendy has been wonderful with our dog, Syd, who can be quite nervous around new people and situations. She is incredibly patient, kind, and understanding, always taking the time to help Syd feel comfortable and secure. Her ability to read a dog's body language and respond appropriately is something that immediately puts both dogs and owners at ease. With a lifetime of experience caring for dogs and a genuine love for animals, I would have no hesitation in trusting Wendy with any dog in her care. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and caring dog sitter.

Safety, trust & environment

II provide a warm, caring home-from-home environment where your dog will be welcomed as part of the family. I understand that leaving your dog with someone else can be a big decision, so I take the time to get to know each animal's personality, routine and individual needs to help them feel safe, relaxed and happy during their stay. Whether your dog enjoys long walks and playtime, quiet companionship, or simply a cosy place to relax, I tailor their care to suit them as an individual. During their stay, pets will enjoy plenty of attention, enrichment, exercise, affection and opportunities to rest comfortably. I aim to keep their routine as familiar as possible and provide regular updates and photographs so you can enjoy your time away knowing your dog is happy and well cared for. I can also gently reinforce training and good habits using positive, reward-based methods. This may include lead walking, recall, confidence building, settling in the home and puppy foundations. My focus is always on helping your dog feel secure, confident and loved while in my care. My goal is simple: to provide a safe, happy and nurturing environment where your pet feels at home and where you can have complete peace of mind. I have a lovely garden that is well fenced and secure and have no other pets or children.
