We’ve been dog boarding on Rover since Fall of 2021 and I grew up caring for pets. We live in a dog-friendly neighborhood with wide, quiet streets. During the day dogs love to perch themselves on our sofa and watch the world go by. In the summer, they have all day access to the yard and sunny deck. In the mornings, we’ll typically take a 20-45 min walk to the woods or pond. On weekdays, when I take my work breaks, we might play, get some good rubs in or I’ll set them up with a food puzzle. In the evenings, we’ll play in the yard for some off leash run around time or my kiddo will get into a game of tug of war. On weekends, we’re pretty relaxed — a walk, yard play, and adventures out of the house if they enjoy that. And if they prefer to stay home, they’re welcome to enjoy the house which is cool in the summertime.

Safety, trust & environment
We welcome your input and direction and will request a meet and greet before caring for a dog that’s new to us. For safety, we have a double gate to our front door and doggy seatbelt in the car. We have lots of dog gear so you’ll just need to pack food, harness and whatever will help them settle in.

Information Wendie H. would like to know about your pet
We want your dog to feel at home with us so please share their routines, favorite activities, commands they know, and your house rules so we can be consistent. We also like to know if they would enjoy short car trips, have any food allergies, and what motivates them (food, snuggles, etc). We're familiar with caring for anxious dogs as long as they’re ok with being home on their own on occasion.
A typical day
School days kick off at 7 am with morning potty and breakfast. If they like car rides, we love bringing them to school (10 min drive). When I return home, we’ll take a 30-60 min walk between 8-9 am before I start my work day at home. The yard is always available with playtime and puzzles in my breaks. Evenings, my son will play with your dog while I get dinner ready for all of us. At bedtime, we all love to curl up with a good book and then snug all together in my son’s bed. He’d love for your dog to sleep with him! Weekends are relaxed with time at home, possible baseball game and simple outings. If your dog likes to ride in the car we love bringing them with us as part of the family. Every other weekend my son is with his dad so it would just be me and my boyfriend who is often here and also loves dogs. Summer is a more relaxed schedule

Our Family for Just Your Dog
Pet care experience
My son and I LOVE sharing our home and large, fully fenced backyard with one precious pup at a time. Walks, off-leash play time, new toys, snuggles, dog puzzles, and company all day as I work from home… we’ll shower your pup with love and attention. We especially love longer stays! June 2026 Update: After falling in love with so many Rover dogs over the years, we’re now actively looking to adopt a dog of our own! Once we find our forever pup, we’ll pause boarding briefly while they settle in — then plan to resume with the added bonus of a canine companion for your dog. Our ideal match is 3–4 years old, around 40 lbs, with moderate energy — good with kids, other dogs, house trained, and neutered. One bittersweet note: once we have our own dog, we won’t be able to host dog-reactive pups anymore. To all our fur friends over the years who needed a dog-free home, we will miss you! ❤️🦮🏡
Reviews

Wendie took great care of our dog, Rusty. She was responsive and easy to work with. Rust really enjoyed his time with her family.

My favorite person to leave our little guy with. She is so communicative and our dog seems so comfortable staying with her. Will always use Wendie!
It was our dogs (Gracie) first time overnight with non-family. Wendie did a fabulous job. We'll definitely use her again.

Wendie was terrific with Zorro. Within minutes of being in her house during a meet and greet, Zorro was comfortable and ready for play-time. Wendie has a large fenced yard (chain link, but there aren’t any neighboring dogs to cause barking sessions) and we walked the perimeter to identify places of escape (Zorro’s favorite game), and Wendie took care of them promptly. She has tons of dog toys, a bed, bowls… it really helped to keep my Zorro-suitcase to a minimum. Zorro had an issue with stairs going down to the backyard (she has some fears), but Wendie figured out a successful solution and it wasn’t an issue during her stay. Wendie took Zorro on a couple outings, which I really appreciated and the photos show a very happy dog.
