Pet care experience

Caring Walks & Loving Pet Care

I have been around dogs and cats for most of my life. Growing up in China, my family regularly had pets at home, so feeding, walking, playing with, and caring for animals has always been a natural and familiar part of my life. After retiring as the CEO of a well-established pharmaceutical company in China, my wife and I moved to the United States and began a new chapter of our lives here. Since then, I have enjoyed becoming more involved in our local community. I volunteer every week at my church’s food pantry, where we help people in need, and helping and caring for others has always been very meaningful to me. I am comfortable providing both dog walking and in-home pet care for dogs and cats. This can include walks, feeding, fresh water, playtime, companionship, litter box care, and following each pet’s normal daily routine. I understand that every pet has a different personality, energy level, and comfort level, and I believe patience, consistency, and attention are very important. What sets me apart is the amount of time, care, and responsibility I can give each pet. I am retired, so I have a very flexible schedule and do not need to rush through walks or visits. I also exercise regularly and stay active, so I am comfortable with walks, outdoor time, playtime, and keeping energetic dogs engaged. Since moving to the United States, my wife and I have not had pets of our own, so I especially enjoy the opportunity to spend time with dogs and cats again while helping their families. I take the trust that pet owners place in me very seriously and will always treat each pet with patience, kindness, and respect.

Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets in a client’s home, I believe safety, trust, and respect come first. I will carefully follow your instructions and do my best to keep your pet’s normal routine consistent, including feeding, fresh water, walks, playtime, litter box care, and companionship. I am very careful with doors, gates, leashes, collars, and harnesses to help prevent pets from getting loose. Before every walk, I will make sure everything is secure, and I will stay attentive to your pet, other animals, traffic, weather, and the surrounding environment. I also understand that you are trusting me not only with your pet, but with your home. I will always treat your home respectfully, keep pet-related areas clean and tidy, and follow any household instructions you provide. Every pet is different, so I will take time to understand their personality, routine, comfort level, and any special needs. If I am ever unsure about an instruction or notice something unusual, I will contact you rather than make assumptions. I am happy to send photos and updates during or after each visit so you can feel comfortable knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.

First and foremost, Wei is a wonderful person. I am one of his pastors at church. He volunteers regularly at different events that care for others, and he is always a joy to be around. He lives out his faith from a deep-seeded belief that we should care for and look after one another. His kindness and joy affect all those around him. He is very responsible and has always followed through with his commitments at church. You will love working with him!

In our family, we have jokingly called Wei “the pet master” for many years because animals have always seemed to become his special responsibility and companion. I have known him for decades, and his love for animals is not something that began recently or because he decided to become a pet sitter. He has cared for dogs and cats since he was very young, and throughout our family life he was always the person who naturally spent the most time with our pets. What has always stood out to me is the relationship he builds with animals. He does not simply feed them or take them for a walk and consider the job finished. He pays attention to them, spends time with them, learns their habits and personalities, and genuinely cares about whether they are comfortable and happy. He has always had a very compassionate heart toward animals and treats them as companions rather than just pets. He is also very patient. He understands that animals communicate in their own ways and that sometimes they need attention, while other times they need space. He enjoys sitting with them, playing with them, walking with them, and simply sharing their company. Caring for animals has always brought him real joy. Since we moved to the United States, we have not had pets of our own, and I know this is something he has missed. When he began thinking about caring for other people’s pets, it felt very natural to me because it gives him the chance to have animals in his life again while helping other families at the same time. As his wife, what gives me the most confidence is that I know he would never treat someone’s pet as “just another booking.” He would get to know that pet, remember its routine and preferences, and care about its well-being personally. That is simply the kind of relationship he has always had with animals, and I believe pet owners will see that very quickly when they meet him.

As Wei’s son, I have had the privilege of knowing him my entire life, and I can genuinely say that he is one of the most responsible, dependable, and caring people I know. Our family had pets while I was growing up in China, so animals have always been a familiar and happy part of his life. He has always been patient and gentle with pets, and I know how much he enjoys simply spending time with them, whether that means going for a walk, playing, feeding them, or just being there to keep them company. Before retiring, Wei spent many years in business leadership and ultimately served as the CEO of a well-established pharmaceutical company in China. That experience reflects something I have always seen in him personally as well: he takes responsibility seriously, pays close attention to details, keeps his commitments, and understands how important it is when someone places their trust in him. After retiring and moving to the United States with my mom, he has made a real effort to become part of his new community. He volunteers every week at the church’s food pantry, helping serve people who are in need. Helping others is something he truly enjoys, and I think that same kindness and service-minded attitude naturally carries over into how he would care for someone’s pets. He is also very active and goes to the gym most days of the week, so he has plenty of energy for dog walks, outdoor time, and active pets. At the same time, he is retired and has a flexible schedule, which means he can give pets patient, unhurried attention rather than trying to fit them around a busy workday. Most importantly, Wei is someone I trust completely. I would feel fully comfortable trusting him with my own pets, my home, and the responsibility of following their daily routines and care instructions. I believe pet owners will find him to be warm, respectful, attentive, and genuinely happy to spend time with their animals. For him, caring for pets is more than simply a way to stay busy in retirement. It is a chance to do something he truly enjoys, help other people in a meaningful way, and become more connected with the community that he and my mom now call home.

Schedule

I am retired, so pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine. I do not have a fixed work schedule, which gives me a great deal of flexibility for walks, drop-in visits, feeding, playtime, and companionship throughout the week. I enjoy staying active and spending time with animals, so caring for pets is something I genuinely look forward to rather than something I need to fit around a busy job. I am often available during weekdays as well as weekends, and I can usually be flexible with morning, afternoon, or evening visits depending on your pet’s routine. Because my schedule is flexible, I can give each pet attentive, unhurried care and do my best to keep their normal routine consistent while their owner is away.

Before caring for your pet, I would like to learn about their normal routine, personality, and any special needs so I can provide safe and comfortable care. Please let me know about feeding schedules, allergies or health concerns, bathroom routines, favorite activities, medications or special care instructions, and anything your pet may be afraid of or sensitive to. For dogs, it is especially helpful to know how they behave around other dogs, unfamiliar people, children, wildlife, or loud noises; whether they pull on the leash; and whether they have any history of anxiety, aggression, resource guarding, or trying to escape. For cats, please let me know whether they are social or shy, if they enjoy being touched or picked up, their favorite hiding places, and any important feeding or litter box habits. I would also like to know your preferred veterinarian and emergency contact information, as well as anything you specifically want me to avoid. The more I know ahead of time, the better I can respect your pet’s personality, follow their normal routine, and keep them safe and comfortable while they are in my care.
