Information Wayne P. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know about your pet’s routine, temperament, and any special needs ahead of time. This includes feeding schedules, medications, energy level, and how they typically interact with people or other animals. It’s also helpful to know about any triggers, anxieties, or behaviors (like leash pulling, separation anxiety, or reactivity) so I can plan accordingly. My goal is to provide a safe, comfortable experience that matches what your pet is used to, so the more details you can share, the better I can care for them.
A typical day
I’ve been around animals my entire life and have several years of hands-on experience as a dog walker and pet sitter. I’ve cared for dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and temperaments—from high-energy puppies to older pets that need a slower, more patient approach. With over 50 five-star reviews on Rover, I’ve built a strong track record of being reliable, attentive, and easy to work with. My background as a special needs tutor has also made me especially patient and detail-oriented, which helps when working with pets that need extra care, structure, or reassurance. I’m comfortable with feeding routines, administering basic medications, long walks, and adapting to each pet’s individual ne

caring private tutor who loves pets
Pet care experience
I am a private tutor who has always had pets. I love dogs and cats and I have availability with my career to provide other families pets with care and affection. I have experience as a dog walker and pet sitter and I am flexible and responsible. I have a safe and friendly apartment in NW DC and I truly enjoy the company of pups of all ages, sizes, and levels of energy. I have training as a special needs tutor and I am a very patient and responsible person who has lived in the DC area for two years. I am from Jacksonville Florida and I have a degree in philosophy from the University of Florida. I work mostly in the evenings and on weekends with my students of various ages. This allows me to work with pets in and around my student schedule.
Reviews

I deeply regret leaving my dogs with Wayne. Initially, I was impressed by how responsive he was. One of the main reasons I hired him was because he stated that he worked primarily from home and would only be away between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at most. Before the stay, I sent detailed feeding and walking instructions, and he confirmed in writing that following them would not be a problem. My dogs are walked four times a day: typically a one-hour walk in the morning, 15–30-minute walks at noon and in the afternoon, and another one-hour walk at night. I explained that this schedule is important because they are two large dogs (90 lbs each, ages 3 and 6) that require significantly more exercise than smaller breeds. Throughout the booking process, Wayne gave no indication that he would be unable or unwilling to provide this level of care. The day before we returned, Wayne informed me that one of my dogs had diarrhea in the middle of the kitchen floor. This was very unusual, so I reviewed my Ring camera footage. To my surprise, I discovered that my dogs had been left alone for more than 10 hours at a time. On most occasions, they were only taken outside for less than 10 minutes, and in some cases for only 1–3 minutes after being left inside for extended periods. This is simply unacceptable and demonstrates a lack of regard for the dogs' well-being. I also left Wayne a list of emergency contacts, including our neighborhood dog walker, in case he was unable to follow the agreed-upon schedule. He never contacted anyone for assistance, despite leaving the dogs alone for more than 10–11 hours. When we arrived home, we immediately began treating both dogs. I was able to get Ozzy's digestive system back to normal within three days using home remedies and over-the-counter medication. Unfortunately, Lexi developed severe, bloody diarrhea that continued for five days with no improvement. I had to take her to the emergency veterinary hospital, where she was prescribed medication. As of today, Lexi is still on medication and has not yet returned to normal. When we arrived home, the dogs' water bowls also appeared as though they had not been washed for several days. During our meet-and-greet, I specifically explained that the bowls should be washed after each meal and that the dogs are given filtered water only. I will never hire Wayne again. When I confronted him by phone about these issues, he became aggressive and disrespectful. His response was, "They're just animals. They're fine." Maybe they are just animals to him, but they are family to me. I have raised them since they were 8 weeks and 4 months old. He also said, he had to work. If my expectations were truly "unachievable," as Wayne later claimed, then why did he agree to them in the first place? I hired him nearly a month before our trip. He met my dogs in person, and I clearly explained their care routine and my expectations during our meet-and-greet. I also provided written instructions before we left, and he confirmed that everything would be easy to follow. Likewise, why did he tell me that he worked primarily from home and would only be away between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. if that was not true? That assurance was one of the main reasons I chose him. Had he been honest about his availability, I would have hired someone else. Based on my experience, it appears that accepting the booking was more important than providing the level of care he agreed to deliver. I felt that the well-being of my dogs was not treated as a priority. I am genuinely shocked that he has so many five-star reviews. Based on my experience, I sincerely hope no other pets experience what mine did. I also hope there are no long-term health consequences from what they endured. In my opinion, leaving dogs alone for over 10 hours without appropriate bathroom breaks or exercise caused unnecessary physical discomfort and emotional distress. This is neglect in my opinion.
