I am very happy with the care our dog Bodhi received! I was a bit concerned about leaving him in someone else’s home, but after the first day I received a thoughtful update about how he was eating and sleeping, which immediately put me at ease. Throughout the week, I loved receiving numerous photos of Bodhi—they kept me reassured and showed just how happy and comfortable he was. Knowing he was cared for not just by the sitter, but by her whole family, made it even more special. He was clearly loved and well looked after every day. I would absolutely trust them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for compassionate, attentive pet care.

Vivian and her family are great! Our little Timmy doesn’t look back once when we drop him off, he is so comfortable with them!

Everything is top notch. I never worry and always know my dogs are receiving the best care possible. I recommend these sitters at the highest level possible.!

I am providing information well within the legal definition of “promptly.” Based on two positive experiences with Rover, I arranged to have Boomer cared for from October 4 through 13, 2025 by a Rover pet-sitter identified as “Vivian W”. Unlike my past two experiences, however, I was (and remain) mortified at Boomer’s condition upon pickup. Within minutes of driving Boomer home, I noticed what I initially believed to be a spot of dirt on his head. When I arrived home, I was shocked to discover that the “spot” was actually a fully-engorged and firmly attached tick! I immediately attempted to remove the tick (using all recommended precautions), but the head remained intact. Obviously, I have no idea how long the tick remained on Boomer since I had not seen him for nine days. Furthermore, I do not understand why the tick was alive and engorged since, as I messaged Vivian when booking, Boomer was “chipped, licensed, monitored by a tractive device, and up to date on all vaccinations (including heartworm and flea and tick).” Most disturbing, however, is the fact that the tick was not immediately removed, particularly since it was in a conspicuous area, Boomer is a white dog, and he was groomed/nearly shaved only a few days before drop-off. Any person who purports to have the requisite knowledge to care for a pet should know that to reduce the risk of transmission of tick-borne diseases, it is crucial to promptly remove the tick since it takes a tick 24-48 hours to transmit the bacteria. Although Boomer is currently being treated with antibiotics, there is no guarantee that the treatment will be effective since the time-frame of the tick bite cannot be determined. Moreover, the very real - and extremely frightening - possibility is that Boomer may be permanently impaired or die from contracting a tick-borne illness such as Lyme disease. The fact that the tick was not removed, therefore, constitutes gross negligence. While it is true that Boomer’s routine preventative treatment and veterinary care does not guarantee that he would not be bitten by a tick, it is without question that the risk of transmission of a tick-borne illness IS preventable by promptly removing attached tick. In this case, that was not done. Unlike my previous “meet and greet” experiences, I never met nor spoke with Vivian. I acknowledge that the booking was a last-minute necessity, but I deemed it highly unusual that: 1. Although I advised Vivian that I was on my way to drop Boomer off on October 4, 2025, she did not come out to meet me or introduce herself. Her son, who was very polite, was outside awaiting my arrival, helped to unload my car, and took Boomer’s leash. I was not invited into the home. 2. Although I suggested that we communicate by text (since I do not receive notifications for apps or emails) Vivian communicated only through Rover email. 3. Although Vivian sent over 100 photos of Boomer, not a single photo was taken inside the home. 4. When I picked Boomer up on October 13, 2025, Vivian’s son was again waiting to meet me outside and Boomer’s crate and belongings (minus several extra servings of homemade dog food that I provided) were outside on the front porch. A woman ( who I presumed to be Vivian) came out of the home for less than a minute, briefly waved, but did not speak to me. 5. Vivian and I never directly spoke to each other at any point during this transaction. 6. I was never invited into the home and, quite frankly, I am not convinced that Boomer was permitted inside either. All tolled, I am extremely dissatisfied with my recent experience.
