I go by V or Valen, they/them pronouns 😊 I have an animal science degree from UC Davis, specializing in captive and companion animals. I’ve interned at both the UC Davis Dairy and Goat Facilities, and worked with a number of other species. My work with animals is rooted in an applied understanding of animal behavior, combined with a knowledge of animal ethics and welfare. As a pet owner of 20+ years with various species, I understand how critical it is to build trust with both owner and pet. This is family we’re talkin’ about! Experience with senior/geriatric/end of life care. Formosan Mountain Dog and general rescue dog experience. Some rodent, bunny, tortoise, and snake experience as well. Experienced with anxious and fear aggressive dogs. If I can teach goats to walk on a leash, I can handle your pups!

Safety, trust & environment
During drop ins, I focus on meeting the pet’s needs per the owner’s requests. Then I’ll play and hang out with them, making sure they get lots of love. If they’re anxious, I’ll leave them alone until they feel comfortable to approach me first. I always make sure to check any safety hazards before leaving.

Valen always takes the best care of our pets! This time, they dropped in to give both cats and both dogs attention. The creatures definitely appreciated their love and attention!

Vivian was wonderful with Honey. They knew just what to do and gave me great tips to help with her issues of separation anxiety and crate training. They took a walk during the 3 hrs I worked and I never heard any barking as I had in the past. I really appreciated that they made themselves available at late notice and the thoughtful care they used in dealing with Honey.

Schedule
I work from home and have a very flexible schedule, though I prefer bookings in the mornings and early afternoons. I can usually work around any schedule though.
