Pet care experience

Experienced & Caring Pet Sitter

Hi, I’m Victoria! I’m 32 and a full-time pet sitter. I worked at Urban Mutts Hotel for 2.5 years, caring for dogs with different personalities and needs. I have a strong interest in animal behaviour and have experience with rescue dogs, socialisation and helping nervous dogs feel more confident. I provide a calm and safe home environment with plenty of mental enrichment, including snuffle mats, puzzles and interactive games. I also follow each dog’s individual routine and care needs. I live with my friendly, neutered and vaccinated 30kg mixed-breed dog, who is well-socialised and enjoys having other dogs around. My main goal is to make every dog feel safe, relaxed and comfortable while they are away from home.

Viktoriia looked after my French Bulldog, Boris for a week whilst I was away. I would highly recommend her. Viktoriia sent regular updates as to how Boris was doing including sending photos and videos. 5*

We left our dog Cookie with Victoria while we were on holiday. We first did a trial weekend as we were a bit worried — he’s quite an anxious rescue dog and can sometimes be unpredictable. To our delight, Cookie quickly became friends with Victoria and her dog. Victoria was really patient and accommodating with Cookie. His stay went really well, and we will definitely be leaving him with Victoria moving forward. Max and Daria

I left my dog Molly with Victoria, and I was a bit nervous at first since I rarely leave her with anyone — usually only with close friends. I knew Molly can’t stay alone and tends to cry a lot, but Victoria and her husband were with her the whole time. They sent me tons of photos and videos throughout the day, which really helped me stay calm. Molly looked happy and cared for, and I felt completely at ease.

Victoria looked after my dog Kifo while my place was under renovation, and she did a solid job. Kifo was happy and everything went smoothly. Later I tried to book her again, but she was already taken — and yeah, that sucked, because I really didn’t want to look for someone else. She’s great when you can get her.

We left our poodle, Talula, with Victoria, and everything went great. Talula absolutely loves Victoria’s dog, Alik, and had a blast playing with him. I really appreciated that Victoria followed our schedule so carefully and handled Talula exactly the way I asked, so her training routine wouldn’t be disrupted. We’re truly grateful for her attention and care.

Schedule

Pet care is already a big part of my daily routine. I try to keep each dog’s usual routine as much as possible, including their feeding times, walks and rest. Between meals, I like to give dogs different activities to keep them mentally stimulated, such as lick mats, snuffle mats, puzzles, games and safe chews. I want their stay to be not only comfortable but also interesting and enriching. I also follow each dog’s individual care needs. If they are used to brushing, bathing or other grooming routines, I’m happy to include this during their stay.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety and trust are very important to me. I have experience with rescue dogs, so I pay special attention to doors, windows and exits, especially with dogs who may try to escape. I carefully supervise dogs around each other, during walks and feeding times, and make sure they always have a safe, quiet place to rest. I also follow each owner’s instructions and routine carefully.

A typical day

A typical day is a balance of walks, rest and mental enrichment. I don’t try to keep dogs constantly busy, especially when they are in a new environment. I give them time to settle in and feel comfortable, and use calm activities such as sniffing games, lick mats, puzzles and safe chews for gentle mental stimulation. I avoid over-exercising or overstimulating them and focus on making their stay relaxed, comfortable and enjoyable.

I always try to learn as much as possible from the owners about their pet in advance — their usual routine, feeding schedule, walks, personality, behaviour, medical needs, medication, allergies, fears or separation anxiety. The more I know about a dog beforehand, the better I can understand their needs and provide safe, comfortable and high-quality care.
