I work part time and mostly from home which allows me to be available all day to care for pets. I’m a big fan of a consistent routine with animals rotating stimulation (exercise, play, training or enrichment) meals, rest and balancing the three.

I care for pets on my property which is almost entirely fenced in. I have professional kennels in a mixed use building with a residential portion attached. So I have the luxury of providing secure and roomy kennels with the addition of our cozy home area. I can take most types of pets and I’m especially suited to care for animals that do not do well in large boarding facilities, don’t do well with other pets or just want a more personalized, quiet boarding experience. I don’t believe it is always necessary to socialize dogs with dogs and right now that’s not something I do (unless they are boarding from the same owners). I focus on routine, a bit of training and connection with humans! I have a fenced in run where dogs can be off leash for playing, enrichment etc. I designed our kennels myself and had them custom built. Each stall is separated by concrete walls to provide a private and safe space. I chose mental fencing for the top of the partition and the door. I chose this instead of the plastic, glass or solid door options because it provides optimal airflow and allows them to see out. I also have private suites separate from that area.

Information Victoria S. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your pet have special needs or behavioral patterns that I should be aware of. I generally ask a bit about them before I board. I do some training and do have lots of experience however I am not a trainer and am not equipped to handle dogs with serious behavioral problems. I'm happy to recommend trainers in the area who are.
A typical day
All depends on the dog of course! In general, I love adding a little extra to their routine without adapting them to a new one. A typical day starts with a nice walk to go to the bathroom, greet the day and sniff around. That's followed by breakfast and then some down time to digest. More outside/play time. Maybe this includes fetch or romping around in the run or on the leash. That is usually followed by some lower energy enrichment like a puzzle or a filled kong toy. Sometimes brushing, cuddling, often dogs will hangout and relax in the office with me while I send some emails. Before we know it it's time for dinner and an evening wind down routine. It all depends on the dogs current routine. I don't believe that boarding should be a constant high energy, high stimulation environment. This can send dogs home expecting the same level of stimulation there. If a dog has a high energy routine that owners would like to keep up, I have no problem doing multiple high energy play times! Cats have a different schedule but a bit similar!

Pet care experience
Hello! I’ve been professionally caring for animals since I was 12 years old and got my first dog sitting gig. Over the years, my family has had every kind of pet: horses, sheep, dogs, cats, birds, iguanas even! I find great joy in showing the animals I work with lots of love and guidance. I’ve trained my own and others' horses, dogs and cats over the years and it’s just the most rewarding experience.

Reviews

Highly recommend Victoria! Booked with her after my usual dog sitter fell through last-minute and had a great experience. Victoria answered all my questions and asked several of her own to make sure her place would be a good fit, and it was. Super happy with the setup as my dog prefers a quieter/calmer place over a typical kennel. The daily updates and pictures were also much appreciated, and I wouldn’t hesitate to send my dog here again!

Viki did a great job taking care of Blue. she sent daily photos. The kennel was clean and looked well cared for. I would recommend Viki highly.

Major had a fantastic experience with Viki. I’m pretty sure he was sad to leave her! She asked lots of questions to make sure he acclimated quickly, and sent pictures and updates throughout his stay. Major doesn’t love the bigger boarding facilities, so this was perfect for him. We will certainly be sending Major back to Viki when we travel!
