Pet care experience

Patient & caring-lots of experience

I’ve cared for animals my entire life, looking after everything from pigs and goats to countless dogs and cats. For decades, friends, family, and neighbours have trusted me to care for their pets, whether that’s daily visits, longer stays, or simply making sure they feel safe and loved while their owners are away. I have experience with rescue, nervous, and anxious dogs, and I take the time to build trust, offering calm reassurance and a gentle approach. I’m confident caring for pets of all ages, from lively puppies (I’ve done plenty of puppy training and have soon welcomed my own) to older pets who need a slower pace, I also have experience with dogs who have special needs. I’m comfortable giving pills and drops, handling special diets, and providing basic grooming like brushing and paw wiping. I also drive and have a crate, meaning I can safely handle vet trips or emergencies if needed. I have a daughter who has trained in animal management at college and is working with puppies and a dog training business who will from time to time be a helper. She is knowledgeable, confident and capable handling lots of different dogs. I have insurance which also covers a helper too. We have a warm, loving environment, with a great enclosed garden perfect for your pet. Our key concern is that you are confident that when your pet stays with us they will be happy, safe and well looked after. After all we are their guardians! I look forward to meeting with you and your pet!

Victoria was so wonderful with our two spaniels (including one who can be a bit grumbly at times) - lots of lovely walks, cuddles, fun and weather-appropriate plans. She was very thoughtful and very responsive. We will definitely use Victoria again!

Victoria is excellent and we recommend her highly. When we first booked, we had a long conversation on the phone to discuss food/ behaviour/ triggers etc and we felt very comfortable that our boy was being thoroughly cared for. Thank you again!

Victoria was just perfect for Jimmy! She was keen to have him settled and he made himself at home in no time alongside her other four-legged lodgers thanks to her warm and inviting manner. She provided a home away from home and spent time doing scent work, which Jimmy loves, alongside some great walks and a cosy evening in. Thank you so much, would heartily recommend!

We had a great experience with Victoria as our dog sitter! She was super friendly and came across as professional, which made us feel completely at ease. Before the booking, she met with us and took the time to get to know Gismo and his special needs, which we really appreciated. She sent us regular photo updates and made sure Gismo was happy and well looked after. We recommend Victoria and will definitely trust her with Gismo again!

Schedule

I work from home most days - when I’m not working we can take day trips or spend a relaxed day at home in the large garden. I am able to have long walks or fit in smaller breaks during the day if it is a day. Your pet will have a good balance of plenty of attention and exercise as well as much needed rest and calm. Please feel free to ask me more questions about this as we live a very flexible and the animals in our life are a priority.

Safety, trust & environment

I have an enhanced DBS status (updated through my work with vulnerable adult and children). My home has one older teenager (studying animal management) and my husband. They will not be responsible for the care of your pet, however, as I have often had lots of different animals to look after they are comfortable with having them around. I have a large garden which is fenced all sides. If you like I have a large crate I can use to offer your pet its own calm space. I also have lots of enrichment items so your beloved pet will get physical and mental exercise as well as lots of care and attention including some agility equipment. Currently no other pets although we will be adding to my family soon. I am a firm believer in ensuring our beautiful pets need lots of love, care, exercise with a decent balance of calm and rest and that the humans in their life are key to facilitating this offering calm and balanced leadership, positive reinforcement and patience.

Pets

A typical day

Depending on your pets preferences and needs, I have access and can travel to woodland, parks, fields, beaches, dog friendly cafés or venues. As mentioned above, I have various toys, games and activities I can do with your dog indoors and outdoors.

over 45 kg
Victoria can host up to 4 pets per night
I have no breed preferences. Before looking after your pet, I would be interested in having a conversation to hear about: - likes and dislikes - any medication or Care needs - any particular habits or challenges to be aware - they are fully vaccinated - what’s their personality - Are they fully vaccinated, flea and wormed - What foods do they eat / treats. - Any allergies - Are the litter trained? - How are they with other dogs? - How are they with children? -What training have they had (any kennnel club bronze silver gold?, puppy?)
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
