I am Vickie, wife and full-time mom of 3 children (one now adult, one in college and a 17-year-old), and one cat and one dog. I've always had a passion for all animals and the study of their behavior. Currently I'm working on my degree in Animal Psychology, my CPDT ( certified professional dog trainer) and CAAB ( certified applied animal behaviorist). I'm a professional member of the APDT (Association of Professional Dog Trainers) and I regularly teach Manners and Obedience classes. In addition to boarding and training, I also enjoy volunteering for AARF Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation, and fostering dogs periodically. Growing up, I rode horses competitively and raised, bred, and trained many kinds of animals throughout my life. After training horses for many years, training dogs became a passion, first with my labrador retriever, earning hunting test titles and obedience titles, and then with my golden retriever, emphasizing family dog training. We now have a 2 year-old golden doodle. I have intensely studied dog behavior from the best professionals for 20 years and have always been told that I have a special touch and connection with dogs. For many years I trained and taught as a member of the Winston-Salem Dog Training Club and also as a member of the Winston-Salem Labrador Retriever Club. My current method has been very successful and is based on a "NO FORCE-NO FEAR" approach. I love connecting with all types of dogs and welcome special requests for difficult issues or routines. Luna, our golden doodle is very balanced and socializes well with other dogs. Our cat, Phoebe, tolerates dogs well. We love puppies, elderly dogs, or dogs with special needs or behavior issues. Prior to boarding or training, I will have an application on which you can describe your dog's needs and any issues or concerns. We can take walks and visit a nearby dog park if that is something your dog would like. I am also very comfortable and experienced administering any medications. I especially enjoy helping with difficult issues, or dogs considered problematic or aggressive.
