Safety, trust & environment
When your pet stays in my home, their safety and comfort come first. My home is designed to be a secure, pet-friendly environment to keep everyone safe, happy, and healthy. All exterior doors have double barriers to prevent bolting and escapees, and doors are kept locked and closed at all times. Cupboards have pet locks to keep curious animals safe from anything harmful, and small or chewable items are kept well off the floor to prevent accidental ingestion. Your dog will never be left unsupervised with other dogs, and potty breaks take place in a fenced-in yard with direct supervision. Leashes are always used on walks and in all unfenced areas. Unfamiliar dogs on walks are always avoided as well, to keep the peace and prevent conflict. If your pet is crated, I remove collars to eliminate the risk of choking. I have training in pet first aid and am equipped to identify and handle emergency situations. When caring for pets in your home, I approach each visit with responsibility and caution. I use great care when entering and exiting to prevent any accidental escapes, and I make sure the environment stays clean and free of anything that could be ingested or become a hazard. All instructions are followed closely, whether feeding schedules, medication, or behavior, because your pet’s comfort, routine, and safety are essential. In any unfenced area, I always use a leash, and I avoid interactions with unfamiliar dogs to keep walks low-stress and safe. I have training in pet first aid and am equipped to identify and handle emergency situations.

Information Varana J. would like to know about your pet
Before caring for your pet, it is good to understand their personality, needs, and habits so that I can make them as comfortable and safe as possible. If they are staying in my home, it is important to know how your pet gets along with other cats and dogs. Do they show any signs of aggression, such as same-sex aggression, resource guarding, or reactivity toward people? Do they understand and respect other animals' body language and boundaries? It's also important to know how long they can comfortably be left alone, and whether they're okay being crated or penned if needed. When they are staying in your home, is your pet comfortable with someone entering the home when you're not there? It is helpful to be aware of other behavioral tendencies—like bolting at the door, rough play, or nervousness. It is also important to know whether your dog is reactive to strange dogs or people, so that I can be adequately prepared when on walks and in other situations. Dietary restrictions, allergies, medications, and health concerns I should be monitoring are also helpful pieces of information. I am more than happy to work with pets who have unique quirks or are still in training, as no dog is perfect!
A typical day
In my home, mornings begin with a couple of potty breaks, breakfast, and a walk or playtime before I leave for the day. In the afternoon, I stop in at my home for a few minutes for another potty break and a chance to stretch their legs, play, and burn off some energy. Evenings include dinner, another potty break or two, and some more activities, like another walk or play inside the house. At bedtime, they get one last potty break and plenty of snuggles before settling in for the night—either in their own cozy bed or curled up on mine. When caring for pets in their own home, I keep their routine as familiar as possible. The day starts with a morning visit, which includes breakfast, some exercise like a walk or playtime, and any specific care instructions you’ve left for me. If an afternoon visit is on the schedule, it will be filled with their favorite activities, whether that be a walk, some playtime, or a nap. At bedtime, I stop by again for dinner, another round of exercise or outside time, and to help them settle in for the night. Each visit typically lasts 20, 30, or 60 minutes, depending on what you prefer.

Compassionate & Knowledgable Care!
Pet care experience
I provide compassionate, attentive care for all pets - whether young and just beginning to explore the world or old, wizened seniors who live life at a slower pace. With years of experience caring for a wide variety of dog breeds and personalities, I understand that every pet is unique. Dogs who are outgoing and energetic, as well as those who are shy or need a little extra time due to "stranger danger," are welcomed and loved. Patience, kindness, and understanding are essential when building trust, especially with more sensitive or reactive animals. Dogs will have a blast while in my care - they will enjoy lots of playtime, fun walks, and a routine that keeps them mentally and physically fulfilled. I believe in positive reinforcement training and cooperative care techniques to encourage confidence and reduce stress. I take precautionary steps at every stage to ensure your pet, as well as the people and animals around them, stay safe. I remain attentive and proactive, such as avoiding unfamiliar dogs during walks, maintaining a secure environment, and identifying early signs of discomfort or illness. Following instructions, regular updates, and attention to detail are all habits I uphold to ensure your dog or cat is well-cared for and nothing goes unnoticed. I have experience with and am comfortable administering both oral and topical medications, and am happy to assist elderly or disabled pets with any extra care or attention they may need. Your pet's happiness, comfort, health, and safety are my highest priorities. In my care, all pets will receive the most compassionate and attentive care so that they can thrive!

Varana was amazing! She is so sweet and caring as a person but also as a pet sitter! She was attentive to my cats and fulfilled all their needs. I would highly recommend her as your next rover!

Varana did another excellent job with our three kitties! I was worried about the cat house door latch but Varana eased my concerns throughout our time away! Thank you again for checking in and making sure they were happy! Will definitely book again for our next vacation!

Varana did a great job with our two cats and sent us detailed updates about their behavior and health. It was a relief to know they were well taken care of while we were away.
Varana is always so reliable! Our cats are so well taken care of!!
