Hello. My name is Vanessa. Thank you for reading my profile. I offer pet sitting in my home for single dogs, or a pair of smaller, bonded dogs from the same family. I have a spacious, ground floor flat near Roker Beach. It's less than ten minutes to stroll to the sand. I also have a small, secure, safe, back yard. Please note that it has a gravel surface and I don't have any grass. I will care for your pet with great love and attention to detail. I'll follow your instructions to the letter. Their safety, health, and happiness will be my top priority. That's a promise. I have a lot of experience. I was a Full-time Housesitter from May 2024 to October 2025, and completed over 33 successful sits with 5-star Reviews from all of them. I have also been invited back several times for repeat sits. I now have my own home again, so I can offer Pet Sitting here. Your dog can have a little holiday with me by the seaside! Although I am still quite new to Rover, I have cared for pets for over 35 years. My first dog, Harry, was a toy poodle. Sadly, he went blind early in life and needed a lot of care until he died aged 13. My second dog, Molly, was a fear-aggressive German Shepherd Cross, a rescue from Crete, whom I lovingly rehabilitated over six years. I cared for my sweet Tabby Cat, Lucy, for twelve years. I have also looked after rabbits, small pets, chickens, and fish on housesits and for family and friends. I am a fit and active, single, British woman aged 65. Non-smoker, Non-drinker. Car owner with a full, clean driving licence. I have a DBS Certificate and I am fully Insured. I am currently studying for an Online Canine First Aid Certificate. I love animals and they quickly respond to me. I feel that a house is not a home without a pet in it. So I love all the cuddles I get when I care for animals, especially for dogs. I can care for one or two small dogs from the same family, but I will never take dogs from different homes. As I work from home, on the computer and on Zoom calls, I am around a lot. I left my dog Cooper with Vanessa for a week while I went on holiday with my family. I was extremely nervous as this was the first time leaving him. From the moment I first booked the stay Vanessa was so welcoming and made me feel at ease and knew straight away he was going to be well looked after 🩵 I had updates and lovely photos of him enjoying himself and I can’t thank Vanessa enough. Lovely lady inside and out and looked after my Cooper amazingly untill we were back. I can’t thank her enough xxx
Vanessa looked after our dogs for 12 days. She was very kind and thoughtful and was keen to know our dog’s routines etc. She sent lovely photos and videos everyday. We were never worried about them as knew they were happy with Vanessa and very well looked after. We would definitely recommend her. 🤩
Vanessa was able to take my 2 dogs at short notice to enable me to attend a family funeral. After meeting beforehand I felt very comfortable leaving the dogs with her for 3 days. Both dogs are on medication and one is extremely nervous around people he does not know very well. Both settled in straight away and Vanessa knew exactly what to do to gain their confidence. Vanessa was keen to keep to my home routine as much as possible and was happy giving medication. The dogs had a lovely time and I would be more than happy to book her again.
Vanessa took great care of Basil! He was clearly happy and comfortable with her. She was very good with his schedule and gave him lots of love. If Vanessa is free for my dates in the future I'd be more than happy to have her mind my little buddy!
Vanessa was amazing! From keeping us updated too helping Ozzy feel at home. She ensured Ozzy was comfortable and not nervous. She’s fantastic and couldn’t suggest her more to anyone ! Will be definitely using her service again

Schedule
I am self-employed as a part-time, online Coach, working with clients from my laptop. That means I can fit my flexible working hours easily around your pet's needs, giving them lots of playtime and regular walks. I don't go out much, which allows for lots of time to be with your pets, and plenty of cuddles and belly rubs.

Safety, trust & environment
I am very aware of safety in the home and on a walk. If I am required to drive your pet in my car, I always use the proper safety restraints. I will follow your instructions at all times. I am very well educated in dog psychology. I used to take part in Dog Agility classes with my last dog. I know how to be a firm and loving pack leader. I am currently studying for a Canine First Aid Course, which includes CPR and Emergency Care.
A typical day
I love to find a new toy or game for every dog that I care for. I enjoy it, and it's a great way to bond with them. I love to play chase, and I will throw their tennis balls endlessly. I like to lay a trail for them with tiny treats, to play hide and seek. If the dogs are open to it, I like to teach them a new trick. This is not always successful, but it is fun to try! I am very affectionate and give them lots of strokes, pets, and cuddles.

- Please let me know if your dog can be let off the lead for walks. I prefer to walk a single dog; however, I can manage two small dogs depending on whether or not they pull on the lead.
