As a middle school teacher, I've always had a soft spot for taking care of others, and that includes our four-legged friends. I started on Rover in 2024 as a way to earn a little extra income while doing something I genuinely love: spending my evenings and time off with animals. What began as a side project quickly turned into a real passion, and I've since completed over 50 dog walks, drop-in visits, and cat check-ins; each one an opportunity to build trust with a new pet and give their owners real peace of mind. Growing up, my family always had German Shepherds (usually two at a time), and multiple cats running around. So, I learned early on how to read a dog's and cat’s body language, build routine, and handle leash training with confidence and care routines. That early experience gave me a deep appreciation for how much pets thrive on consistency, patience, and genuine affection, and it's shaped the way I care for every animal I look after today, whether it's a high-energy pup or a calm, laid-back cat. I treat every home and every pet like they're my own. That means sticking closely to feeding schedules, medication routines, and exercise needs, while also paying attention to the little things like the toy they favor, the spot they like scratched, the walk route they get most excited about. I know how hard it can be to leave your pet in someone else's hands, so I make communication a priority: you'll get regular updates, photos, and honest feedback so you always know exactly how your pet is doing. As a teacher, I have wonderfully flexible availability: mornings, after 3pm, and weekends during the school year, plus much more openness during breaks and summer. Vanessa took excellent care of our two dogs, including our elder gentleman with special medical needs. My wife and I were nervous for our holiday trip this year as our typical sitter was on holiday, but Vanessa was an excellent caretaker for our dogs and agreed to a meet and greet beforehand to learn their routines and needs. We would highly recommend Vanessa for anyone needing a drop-in sitter!
I would highly recommend Vanessa as your pet sitter! She is attentive, respectful and communicative throughout her visits. I have a senior cat, Dexter, who requires daily medication that she was able to do in my absence. Dexter also warmed up nicely to her. Thank you Vanessa! Schedule
As a middle school teacher, I have a ton of free time during break periods to give special attentive care for your furry family members. During the general school year, I have open availability in the mornings, after 3pm, and on weekends. I have a special talent and love for taking care of my community, and would absolutely enjoy having the opportunity to do so for your sweet pets as well.
