Calm, Trustworthy Pet Visits
I'm Fear Free Certified, which means I'm trained to read a dog's body language and stress signals — that carries over into how I handle visits, not just grooming appointments. I've been around animals for almost 20 years and trained as a veterinary doctor in Venezuela, so I'm paying attention to more than just "did they eat and go outside" — I notice if something seems off, and I'm comfortable administering medication (oral or topical) as part of a visit. I especially like working with anxious, senior, and first-time dogs who need a calmer, more patient approach than a quick in-and-out visit. Every dog gets treated at their own pace, whether that's an extra few minutes of settling in or just sticking closely to their normal routine so the visit feels familiar, not disruptive.

Vanessa is an excellent dog groomer. I took my dog Cooper and he looked perfect, bath, haircut, and drying were all spot on. She’s very professional, careful, and you can tell she truly loves animals. The place is calm and Cooper came out super happy. Highly recommended, we’ll definitely be back.

Schedule
Grooming and pet care are the focus of my week, not squeezed in around anything else. I'm available weekday afternoons, and weekends are open too. I work at a Grooming Salon part time and I have my home-based studio Barkly's as well. I keep appointments spaced out on purpose rather than back-to-back, so pet care gets my full attention instead of being rushed between clients.

I stick closely to whatever routine you leave me: feeding times, walks, medication if needed. Since I'm trained to read stress signals, I keep an eye on how your dog is settling in, not just whether the basics got done. If they're up for a walk, we'll go — if they'd rather stay in and decompress, we do that instead, whatever fits their normal day best.
A typical day
Walks are the big one — a nice stroll around the neighborhood if your dog's up for it, at whatever pace they like. Beyond that, it's playtime with their own toys, some fetch or tug if that's their thing, and plenty of pets and calm attention in between. For dogs who'd rather decompress than play, that's just as good! I follow their lead instead of pushing for something specific. Either way, they get treats (if allowed) and someone paying full attention to them the whole time.
