Pet care experience

All around animal lover of any kind

I’ve had animals all my life, from cats and dogs to small and exotic animals. I have worked as a kennel technician, dog bather and animal caregiver in previous jobs and I even have some experience with horses, some wildlife rehabilitation, and some dog training. I am currently a stay at home mom (other than for drop ins and walks for Rover, and occasional DoorDashing for a couple hours to supplement my income until I have a larger client base, here), but I am looking to get into online school for a degree in animal behavior as I want to work with animals full time as my lifelong career!

Vanessa and her family took excellent care of my puppy, Silvia! Vanessa gave frequent updates and sent lots of pictures and videos to put my mind at ease while traveling. I'm very grateful for the high level of caretaking that Vanessa provided and Silvia will definitely be a return visitor in the future.

Gannon received the best care an old grumpy doggy could possibly want staying with Vanessa. She took wonderful care of Gannon and I recommend her highly.. Thank you for making my old dog happy and comfortable for our trip and I really appreciate not having to stress about how he was doing.

Vanessa was amazing! Our cats were well cared for and loved while we were away. Vanessa was very communicative throughout and provided photos, which I very much appreciated. I highly recommend & will definitely book again!

Calendar and availability

Schedule

I am currently a stay at home mom other than brief times I leave for drop ins, walks and occasional DoorDash, so I will be home most, if not, all day to tend to the animals. I am only ever gone from the house for 4 hours at a time at the absolute most. So you can rest assured that your pet will get all the attention and care s/he needs!

Where your pet will stay

Home characteristics

Lives in a house
Has an unfenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has caged pets
Has 2 dogs, 2 cats
Children 0-5 years old
Dogs allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture

Safety, trust & environment

I do not have a fenced yard, but all dogs are leashed to go outside. However, they are let off leash when we go to the dog park (if your pup is spayed/neutered and you and your pup is comfortable going, if not I will ensure your pup gets his/her exercise on a leash). I do have crates, so I am able to safely crate your pup if needed, but if not your pup is welcome on the couch and bed to make him/herself at home. I also have dogs, cats and caged animals of my own for your pup to socialize with. Any interactions with any of the animals will be supervised to ensure no accidents happen (especially with the smaller/caged animals as most dogs have a prey drive). With my previous job history I do also offer extra services. I have experience with administering basic/prescribed medications (including insulin if dosage is listed on container). So you can rest assured your pup will receive his/her medication correctly and on time. I also offer bathing, teeth brushing, ear cleanings, nail trims and brushing. Once I get my certification I will also be offering training sessions.

Pets

A typical day

Here we typically wake up between 6-8am and everyone goes outside to potty before breakfast. After breakfast we have relaxation time for a minimum of 30 minutes to help prevent any breeds potentially prone bloat from developing it (this is done at all feeding times and with all breeds for safety measures. All dogs will be fed separately for safety purposes). After relaxation time we spend our day playing and taking frequent potty breaks, as well as going for walks or going to the dog park. Walks and dog park I try to do in mornings or evenings during the summer to avoid the worst of the heat, but in the cooler months I try for the warmer parts of the day. During the day is also when I do any bathing and basic grooming. For dogs that eat twice a day, they will also eat/have relaxation time at dinner. Last potty break is usually around 10-10:30pm. After that pups go in crates or get situated on couch/bed or on the dog beds/blankets on the floor, wherever they feel most comfortable.

Please let me know ahead of time if your dog has any special needs I will need to tend to. Such as behavioral or health issues, or if they need medication or any other special/specific care. Thanks!
