Pet care experience
WFH Sitter | Calm Home
I've had dogs for nearly 20 years and know every dog has their own personality and routine. I work from home, so your dog will have company throughout the day, daily walks, and plenty of attention. I only board one household at a time because I want every dog to feel comfortable and at home, not a house full of unfamiliar dogs. My dog, Henry, is friendly with dogs of all sizes and enjoys having company, but he's also pretty laid back. I've cared for senior dogs, including one with megaesophagus and myasthenia gravis, so I'm comfortable giving oral and liquid medications and following special feeding schedules. Before every first stay, I'd love to do a meet-and-greet to make sure it's a good fit for everyone. During your dog's stay, I'll send plenty of photo and video updates so you know they're doing well.

Ratings and reviews
Valerie has been boarding my dog for over 5 years now and she is awesome. Leaving your pets is always hard, but she always sends updates and pictures so I don't have to worry. She makes sure they get walked and stay clean, and my dogs love her and get so excited to see her. If you need someone who will treat your pets like family, definitely book Valerie.
Valerie has dogsat for us several times now and she is the best! She has dogs and cats of her own as well and she’s the best pet mom. She’s very in tune with their needs and how they feel. She’s always very responsive and good communicator. We love her and she’s our go-to dog sitter!
Can’t say enough good things about Valerie and the way she took care of my sweet baby! Left my 35lb shepherd with her over a four day weekend, she was so king to send me daily updates and had the absooute cutest play photos when they took trips to the dog park. I would highly recommend Valerie and will be using her again. My only complaint is that my sweet pup almost didn’t want to come home with me after her stay, but that’s a me problem! Thank you Valerie!

Schedule
I work from home full time, so your dog will have company throughout the day and won't be left alone for long periods. We usually start the day with a morning walk, followed by another walk in the afternoon and a shorter walk before bed, plus potty breaks as needed. Henry and I visit nearby parks every day, and if your dog enjoys dog parks too, I'm happy to include those with your permission. If not, we'll stick to neighborhood walks and on-leash park visits. On hot days, I'll adjust our schedule and walk during the cooler parts of the day.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
Your dog's safety and comfort are my top priorities. Since I only board one household at a time, I can give each dog plenty of attention and keep a close eye on how they're settling in. Dogs are never left outside unattended, and all walks and park visits are on leash unless we're in a designated enclosed area and you approve. My dog, Henry, is friendly with dogs of all sizes and enjoys having company, but he's also happy to relax and do his own thing. I also have a cat who mostly keeps to herself and usually prefers to stay out of the action. I'm happy to follow your dog's normal routine, including feeding schedules, medications, furniture rules, and any other instructions that help them feel at home. If your dog is crate trained, I'm happy to use your crate if you bring one.

A typical day
Every day starts with a 45–60 minute morning walk to stretch our legs and explore the neighborhood. We pass a local dog park on every walk, and I'm happy to stop in if your dog enjoys dog parks and you approve. If not, we'll keep walking and enjoying the sights and smells together. Around midday, we'll head outside for a potty break. If your dog has some extra energy, we can also enjoy one-on-one playtime in my apartment's enclosed dog run when it's empty. In the afternoon, we'll head out for another 40–45 minute walk through one of several nearby neighborhood parks. These walks are always on leash and are a great opportunity for plenty of sniffing, people-watching, and exploring at your dog's pace. After dinner, we'll go out for another potty break or more one-on-one playtime in the enclosed dog run if your pup is up for it. Before bed, we'll finish the day with a short 10-minute stroll around the apartment to make sure everyone is comfortable for the night. Since I work from home full time, your dog will also have plenty of companionship, attention, and downtime with Henry throughout the day between walks.
